The more I think about this, the more I believe this is a multi-platform game. I think from a business standpoint, it would be crazy not to release it for all the systems.

Uh...they're likely doing art and design now. The art and design for Versus XIII is finished and the artists and designers are definitely working on KH3 now. Artists and designers are like...half the team and they won't let them sit down and do nothing when they're paying them. Besides, I'm sure the KH team can manage both KH3 and Versus. Besides, Disney also helps in KH game development so the KH team won't take all thw load. |
link? the game is two years away, I doubt they finished every map, character, weapon, enemy and finalized the story to go with it right now. If they did, it must be good to do art work for video games, they must be working on twewy 10 and ff50 and kh15 and dq 70 right now and they know they what they do won't ever be used because the game won't exist for forever.
"Hey go draw me a bunch of pictures for a game."
"Which game?"
"Who cares, we won't make it for 30 years anyways. It should only take a month and you can start work on another game we won't ever make."
The reason I am giving you a bunch of crap about this is because in an interview, Cliff Blizzenski (or however you spell that idiots name) said that their story guy (i.e. janitor) for Gears 1 was working with the team up to the very end becaues they had to edit stuff in and out because somebody decided not to do this scene in the alley, we need something to make the story still make sense, add that part in somewhere else or a replacement. He actually said that a scene where Marcus Fenix stopped to talk to someone in an alley about something had to be cut for some reason, and it needed to go somewhere else or replacement lines needed to be made. I don't have a link, but if you search g4's website you might find the video clip.
And you didn't answer my question about what you will do if it doesn't come out this gen and you all lose the bet.

Yeah of course, SE isn't releasing their third biggest franchise because why?

maybe there busy with to many other games
| thekitchensink said: What do you think is going on with it? I know the team is making the currently-delayed FF v. XIII, but you'd think they'd have time to slap some video together, no? My thought is that they're waiting to see which sells better, 358/2 Days or BBS. |
I'd guess... next generation.
FFV13 is on hold... as are other projects.... I just think square doesn't have the money. They've spread their money way to far developing too many games... and way too many HD games in general... I mean Final Fantasy 13 and Final Fantasy 13V have to be HUGE cash hogs, throw in Star Ocean, Infinite Undiscovery, White Knight Chronicles.... Last Remnant.
I mean... damn... all that has to be costing them a pretty penny.
I mean is Square-Enix really that rich? Maybe they're a bigger company then i gave them credit for.

Isn't Infinite Undiscovery being made by Tri Ace and published by SE? And I believe White Knight Chronicles is Level 5, though I don't know who is publishing that. But they are working on DQ9, FF13, FFv13, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 and BBS and a bunch of Star Ocean games along with Chocobo Dungeons and Wiiware games I believe, Last Remnant and I think another DS game. Also remakes of older DQ games for DS and chrono trigger for DS. Wow, they are spreading themselves rather thin, didn't think about until listing all of those games. Of course porting wouldn't take as many people and neither would hand held games but that is still a lot going on at once.
Because they're not done with the frickin FFXIII

Ah that's right publishing. I keep forgetting that a lot of Enix's strengths was it's publishing deals.

Again, link? Like I said, Cliff Blizzenski said that the story person (the janitor) for Gears was working with the developers until the very end, that would mean that whenever something got changed, something added or taken away or altered, the artists are back to work. Since Final Fantasy is very story driven, that would especially apply to them, other wise they would be working on projects that wouldn't be made for decades just to keep them busy, and like you said, they don't pay them to sit at home and drink saki. And all those other teams working on other projects can start new ones when they are done, like I said, SE doesn't want second rate teams working ont their big franchises. they aren't going to put them on versus, because that would be stupid to bring in a new team so late to take over and they aren't going to start them on KH3 just have to the A team come in later when it is half way done.
And you still haven't answered my question about the bet you have made.
PSP, DS, and phone games coming out...each different...and lead designer working on FF13: Versus.
I don't see how anyone can doubt it will be a PS3 and 360 game now, though. It clearly won't be a handheld based on current and past developments of the games (all spinoffs on handhelds), and nearly every RPG isn't on Wii.
I was hoping for something also, but yeah, FFversusXIII needs to be completed first.
