BTW, that 72/28 week was largely irrelevant, as well as this 55/45 week, since hi-def films didn't experience any major growth in either. It's still in a niche market, so who sells the most players and movies doesn't matter at this point.

This is fighting over who has the largest slice of a pie, that isn't even in the oven yet.

except it does matter. When whoever has the largest slice of the pie is going to get to go in the oven. These sales matter A LOT since WB has announced its atching sales to make a move. These variables arent static......thus, they are important as they could sway backings and unifications. Your point why it is not important makes a stronger case for why it IS important. We arent in the oven yet......until we have a chance to cook all the way through (unified single format) we wont get in the oven. Knowing that its going to take one side to cave, these weeks and numbers and ratios are ever so important to "getting in th eoven" as you say.

These numbers never matter to the people rooting for the losing number team. Nothing ever matters when it doesnt back the cause we are supporting. Polls neve rmatter when they show unfavorable results. People always find ways to twist things to ease their minds. These numbers matter. they matter very much....

And its 58/42 this week, once again, you sure know what youre talking about. For chirssake you cant even report actual numbers without lying or BSing, are you kidding me?

It doesn't work that way. You can insist one has to go, but that's not the reason HD hasn't hit mainstream yet.

These sales matter A LOT since WB has announced its atching sales to make a move.

They have not. This is the relevant quote from Business Week:

"The rumor is that Warner is coming aboard soon," says Michael Burns, vice-chairman of studio Lionsgate

He's just telling us of the rumor. Even if true, Warner has not made any actual announcements.

Still that crap again.

Basically, you are basing this on the claim that HD-DVD is holding hi-def adoption from the mainstream, despite repeated surveys showing it's consumer indifference to the very concept of HD. In other words, you are lying.

I'm just glad you guys are still posting in this thread.  That's impressive.

Unless something changes, though, you guys should expect dual-format players to win out in the end.  It's taking too long for either format to catch on enough.

Btw, happy, the cheapest 1080p hd-dvd player is $250 on amazon and the cheapest 1080p blu-ray player is $300.  I'd say that's pretty close, with the movie advantage clearly still with blu-ray.

When movie prices go down, AND enough people realize that watching on an HDTV isn't HD by itself, then we will likely see HD films go mainstream.

Until then, all these low player prices won't help.

Most notably, Dan Silverberg, VP of high-definition media for Warner Home Video, stated that "one things that may be changing is [Warner's] strategy," and he continued by proclaiming that hardware prices had reached a point where consumers "no longer wanted to decide" which format reigned supreme. The speech actually got interesting when he mentioned that the "notion of staying in two formats for the duration is something the company was re-evaluating."

Well, you would think id get tired of putting you in your place. Seriously, bro....when will you ACTUALLY RESEARCH what youre argueing......WB has gone on the record NUMEROUS times about how they are reevaluating their stance and watching the fourth quarter closely.

And as for your second part, please stop putting words in my mouth. I never said HD DVD is holding off hi def adoption. Please, i challenge you go through all of my posts and tell me wher ei said HD DVD is holding off main stream adoption. Go ahead, sport, go find it. Until then stop quoting me on shit im not saying and go do some research on the bullshit you ARE saying and then we can discuss this. Until then, the only reason im responding to you is so uninformed people dont believe your bullshit that you constatly spew against BD.

Lord....i mean, youve proven you dont know a single thing of what youre talking about. You went off about Sony being the only ones believeing Amazon is in Nielsen. you thought you caught me with my hand in the cookie jar not mentioning the wal mart sale when discussing Nielsen ratios when its VERY common knowledge that wal mart is NOT a part of Nielsen. You went off on how 51 gb discs will increase HD DVD's bit rate. You had apparently no idea WB was reevalutaing their dual format stance......i mean, when is enough enough. Its pretty remarkable how often youve been shown up in this threa dlately, yet keep plugging away.

Fact of the matter is I know what im talking about, and you dont.....just because i support BD doesnt mean you cancel me out when youre in the dark on this stuff. Youre not doing a service, youre just spreading lies and making yourself look silly.

Some player sales data from the Black Friday week.

57k stand alone players sold for both formats.

Unit ratio 62:37:1 (HD:BD:Dual). [35.3k HD and 21.1k BD]

Revenue Ratio 52:42:1 (BD:HD:Dual)

HD DVD unit sales up 454% compared to previous week, BD unit sales up 189%.

LOL, somewhere in UK,
Well isn't that interesting? I went into Woolworths the other day and what did I see on the shelf? Well take a look...

That's right! I asked at the counter what was going on and they said they have it on Blu-ray but they've sold out at the minute.

Now isn't that something?

And hopefully I'm buying it today.
==> fake ???
