Thanks to kenobi after I got him to ban my old account (dallas) after someone hacked into it and being ok with me coming back under a slightly different username.  I appreciate our communication in the PMs.  Also I want to give a big thank you to vgchartz for being one of the cooler websites around.

Oh, and I'm still the next Michael Pachter

Seriously, Europe is not even a true concern in terms of format war IMO. No market can beat the size in terms of consumer electronics in America. Well, maybe except China if they are into the electronics buying thing.

Currently loving my Wii x2, Xbox 360 Pro & Xbox 360 Arcade, and Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children Limited "Cloud Black" 160GB PS3

China? Well, one of the Chinese regulatory groups has given the nod to BD as the preferred format for China.

Which, as Stringer stated, means nothing but prestige. If either format makes inroads into the mainstream by then, THAT will be impressive.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Yeah, at the cost of being the distant third in the console sector.

Blu-Ray's extra storage capacity is really beginning to come into play. Many big Blu-Ray releases, like Spiderman 3, come with all of their extra features in 1080p. Most HD DVD releases, however, come with 480p (SD) extras.

The latest example is Warner's Harry Potter and he Order of the Phoenix. Not only does the Blu-Ray version come with an extra 40 min. special from A&E on the making of the movie, and it and many of the other special features on the disc are in 1080p. All the extras on the HD DVD version, however, are in 480p. The additional scenes and other featurettes are all in HD on Blu-Ray, but only SD on HD DVD. Sure HD DVD gets PiP and that community chat thing, but I'd much prefer getting HD extras on my HD format.

Check out the backs of the OotP cases (top right, under "Special Features", and more info in the "Special Features" box in the middle of the case):

blu ray will win...

Guys blu-ray won

WALMART is barely selling HD DVD'S.
