Warner is not switching from neutrality. When that exec said Warner was considering one format, he just meant that Warner has been doing that constantly. Yet right now, they don't see a clear winner, and will stay neutral for well into next year.

Well that's already selling at a larger loss than Toshiba officially does. Yet if they see the sales upswing as worth taking more short term losses, so that the volume brings manufacturing costs down, they just might make a few more deals like this.

So it seems the CEO of Sony is being more cautious about this format war than so many loudmouths. He evidently knows the blu-ray isn't guaranteed to win, and that blu-ray will have to work hard to be the next format, not just act at though it is somehow entitled to it.
