Forums - Gaming - Fallout 3 - A bit disappointing?

Looking at the footage so far, I am seriously underwelmed.  I was hearing reports of this fantastic game with outstanding visuals yet, looking at the footage and it looks quite weak TBH.  The VAT system looks cool with the exploding parts and stuff, but how quickly will you get bored with that.....and the normal shooter parts look very dated.

Graphically it looks okay, the draw distance is very good, but the textures and actual models along with the overall movement looks very poor.

Is it just me?  I hope it's just seeing it in reasonably poor video showings....but to me, it certainly doesn't look like the game I was expecting.

Dead Space on the other hand looks brill.

It looked very early to me. I expect it to come out next year.

It looks like a shooter, while the Fallout series always has been an RPG. Bethesda screwed up.

It's due to be released in a few months (September/October time).

Textures of all the rubbish on the floor looked average, but the nuke was awesome!

i thought the game looked a bit meh t be honest, me and my friend kirsty was sitting down just looking blankly at the screen saying how boring the game looks and how much we hated the pauses in between gun shots and that.

Bah!! Whatever you all say, I'm super excited. The game is looking SWEET!

The textures don't look as good because like GTA, needs to sacrafice graphical quality to get rid of loading times

That. The typical VAT system is good and the exploding body parts and gore is great, but like you said it only excites us in the beginning. But I don´t like the FPS-VAT combo, it seems that neither of them is as good as it should. If they went VAT only it would have been better.

So you pick which body part to shoot and it shoots it for you automatically right? The shooters I've played you actually have to aim before you shoot. An exploding head should happen because you hit the sweet spot in a game like it is in Resident Evil. It shouldn't be automatic because you say you want to target the head. Does anyone else agree with what I'm saying?
