I remember those days, nobody wanted anything to do with the N64 here, but I stuck by that old beast.

all xbox360 games are time exclusives, and probably also star ocean since its a 60-70% sales doesn't pick in japan
ff13 still exclusive in japan, it will be released on the ps3 first, and transtaled to the ps3 first, then ported to the xbox360.
and ff13 versus is a full ff13 exclusive.
You read my mind mrstickball! I was just reading comments on the FFXIII video on GameTrailers and couldn't help but point that out to all the whiny fanboys on there... here's what i wrote verbatim...
"Seriously though... now all you Sony fans can experience what all us Nintendo fans went through over a decade ago when Squaresoft came out of left field and shook the entire gaming industry by announcing that Final Fantasy VII would be a PlayStation exclusive and would NOT be released on the N64, despite the fact that ALL FF games had been exclusive to Nintendo systems up to that point, and they already had a working demo of the N64 version. I guess it really IS true what they say... what goes around comes around!
I mean at least you guys are still getting FFXIII no matter what... we Nintendo fans got the shaft... nada, zip, nilch, and its been like that for over 10 years with the exception of spin-offs and remakes... so quit your bitching!!!"

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
No it's not the same at all. I was there.
To quote myself:
"So it's better than when I saved up for 2 years as a kid to buy an N64 with my favorite games being Mario and Final Fantasy..."
I am really tired of the fanboyery. That was not fanboyery that was getting screwed.
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
I still remember how screwed I felt after I learned Final Fantasy wasn't coming out for the N64, I saved up for quite a while to buy that system at launch, expecting I'd soon get the latest FF, still luckily I was fortunate enough to have the case later to pick up a PS1 so I could play FF7,8,9 in their hayday.
not close at all, you still had to buy the other console to enjoy your favorite franchise, in this case you dont. and imagine wanting sony to burn for it, and then watching the console reach 100m sales right infront of your face. the horror
Soriku - but again, both series were on a Nintendo system (with FF, exclusively) and wound up going PS exclusive for years.
Yes yes yes, I'm not trying to argue an EXACT comparison. We all know that N64 or Nintendo fans got a Final Fantasy until Crystal Chronicles for GC, and PS3 fans are still getting it, but it's the same amount of heartache - you buy a system for 1 game, only to find out that the 1 uber-game is going to the evil rival console. I think even if FFXIII went to the Wii as well (as opposed to the X360), the drama wouldn't of been so bad.
And again, it's surreal being on the other side of this...10 years later. I actually am going to buy a Final Fantasy game when it launches! Ha! And this time it won't be $80 like FFIII was when I bought it.
And like you said Night, Sony fans shouldn't be as distraught as they are...As an SNES owner, I was treated to:
FF II, III (US), MQ
Lufia 1/2
Super Mario RPG
Robotek
Breath of Fire 1/2
Ogre Battle
Chrono Trigger
Secret of Mana
Secret of Evermore
+ 10 other great JRPGs.
But thanks to Sony, as an N64 owner, I got:
Quest 64
Ogre Battle 64
Similarly, as a regular PS2 owner, most were treated to a laundry list of JRPGs, while the succuessor (PS3) is getting a slimming list of JRPGs that are either not coming to the PS3 at all, or are multi-plat. So the degredation of the JRPG game base on the PS3 is kind of similar. And I think it's the closest thing we're going to get. I don't even remember DQ9 > DS announcement being THIS overwhelming with reaction.
Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
Dammit I'm still pissed about having to save for another 2 year. Dammit.
Edit: MrStickball, DQ9 isn't as big as FF outside of Japan.
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Ditto... I still remember getting all my gaming info each month from Diehard Gamefan, Game Informer, GamePro, etc. and I remember looking at the early 3-D character models for the supposed N64 version and thinking "Man this is gonna be the greatest thing ever!"...

I dont have faith in God ,let alone a enterprise.
But this is not the same as in 96 for Nintendo fans. The Playstation still gets most if not all the games, the N64 got nearly nothing.
