Forums - Sony - Do you think Sony knew ahead of time?

Sony still has a 15% of Square ...of course they knew.Thats how they managed to grab the Japan exclusivity, and maybe something else.

They must have felt like crap when SE told them they were going to port FFXIII to the 360.

actually it's 8.58%. It was 20% but then the merger cut that to less then half. (Enix being the more successful company, their stock was worth more.) Also i believe they sold some during the merger. (About half.)

A share of Square got you 85% of a share of the new company.

While Enix stock was traded directly 1 to 1.

they definetly knew, it would be rude to not tell.

                             End of 2008 Sales:

               Wii- 39 Million 360- 25Million PS3- 22 Million

                          PSN: papasmurf5721

I think they knew. However, I don't think keeping the game exclusive in Japan had nothing to do with sony. S-E probably just felt that the 360 was dead there. Why? Sony arguably couldn't care if FF13 was exclusive on 360 in JP because NOTHING seems to sell a 360 in that region. Sony would be better off securing the exclusive in America. Whats the point of a Japanese exclusive? It gains no advantage whatever for sony over M$ that wasn't there before.

They knew. The BIG question is what have the dont to try and counteract it.
Looks like we'll have to wait until 2morrow.

Yes they probably knew. I remember a few weeks ago reading about Sony downplaying third party exclusives. Now we know why.

Very true. I think it was Kaz himself talking about how 1st party studios need to step up.

Hopefully they knew long before, and have been planning something the whole time to make up for the loss, to announce the day after for the Sony Conference :)

They've known for much longer than a few months.

How would they of known much longer then a few months, at the SE conference they said that the decision to bring FF13 to the 360 was pretty recent.  The game has not even been started for the 360 yet, and won't be for some time.

they must have knew

Of course they knew.

They must have seen it even if it was just before now
