Umm, you know Nintendo is a way bigger company, in terms of money, than Sony. Even when you include all of Sony. Nintendo is the second largest company in Japan.
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
Sony will bounce back. They wont take this news without a huge announcement. They surely was aware of this announcement and have something up their sleeve.
Us loyalist are not selling our PS3's over this announcement. FFVXIII is still exclusive.
theres nothing they can possibly do. nintendo could announce somesthing bigger, but definetely not sony
Sony obviously knew about this, and obviously SE would have had to work something out between both Sony and MS for this to happen. Only one outcome makes financial sense to all three:
* Square-Enix ditches all exclusivity from their PS3-360 lineup. (++money for them)
* MS gets FF13 (++money for them)
* Sony gets everything else MS had as an exclusive from SE... SO4, LR, maybe KH3, etc. (++money for them)
I call it a wash. Except for us gamers... woot!
Here's the odd thing... Sony still appears to have FF13 exclusivity in Japan. Obviously the 360 isn't doing well there, but... this is what hints, to me, that Square Enix is the primary motivating force behind this change. They don't see any real benefit to producing an X360 Japanese version -- so they aren't going to.
Exclusive FF7 remake would do it. It's also pretty much the only remotely plausible one (and still not very plausible at this point).
Alternately:
World of Starcraft or World of Warcraft 2 comes exclusively to PS3.
Sony buys Bungie.
Um... I really can't think of anything else that would match it. GTA5 wouldn't do it, because the next GTA is just going to be an incremental improvement over the last one. It's only the first entries of a generation that are truly revolutionary and generate all the hype.
