Forums - Microsoft - OK that was just painful....

Gentlemen, its Microsoft. There is no anti trust in video games. This is how Microsoft rolled in the 90s before the anti trust claims and this how they will do it in the video game market until they run competitors out of business.

Sony's arrogance has finally caught up to them.

I'm just saying...

The beginning was great (loved the GoW2 elevator sequence), and the end was beyond anything I was expecting. But the middle part (UNO rush! NBC! Avatars! Card reader! Ugh.) definitely left a lot to be desired.

Still, they went out with a (big) bang, and that definitely counts as something.

Ten minutes of good stuff in the beginning, a two minute megaton at the end, and a whole lot of poorly delivered material in the middle. It wasn't a very good conference for Microsoft, but it got the job done.

This conference was horrible. It confirmed everything that is wrong with MS, namely, they have no unique identity. They dont know who they are. Are we hardcore or casual? Should we keep our unique blade OS or should we rip off Nintendo's Channel OS and Sony's XMB in one fell swoop? Should a console that fails in Japan spend so much effort securing JRPGS? Is rare good enough to spend a couple months to come up with a good avatar tool, a feat that took Miyamoto years to do? (answer is no, the avatars look painfully generic and uninteresting). For the Love of God, they have a, and I quote, My Xbox Channel. It's blatant. I'm almost disapointed that they didnt show of the fabled newton controller.

Normally I would end my tirade with my 1st post. But I know I'll remember something and I'll be back for more

cool!!! (and a bit boring at some point)
it was better than i expected but still, there was nothing special!!

come on, FF13 was announced looong ago, Ps3 couldn't sell 100 million because of 1 game
(not to mention that this will benefit the Wii, as sales due to FF13 are going to be divided like with GTA IV!!)

the Xbox Mii are good, but nothing new, and the movie thing is not bad, but come on.......

what is pissing me off, is the "Xbox360 will sell more than Ps3"

btw.....Nintendo will crash everything tomorrow....

Wii console: 0595 8808 5698 2709

Your elegant use of facts and oh-so-hilarious and original "M$" abbreviation completely won me over. A++ would read again.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

IMO the only thing good about the conference was FF 13, which was a nuclear bomb.

Evertyhing else was "yeah i already know about this" or "what's the point"

OK.

So maybe i was a bit harsh, but everything i said was fact and i didn't try to spin anything.

M$ succeeded on many levels, and i see it hard for PS3 to bridge the gap now, or it just might take longer.

But nothing they did challenged the Wii, highlighting more my other thread on how they have conceeded to the Wii.

It was painful cause really nothing excited me until Fable, even though gears was enjoyable to watch. The co-op mechanic on fable looks brilliant, but RE5 was dissapointing.

There bad attempt at casual games were boring and then the chick sang, i had to look away.

They didn't lie about sales, but avoided the truth, they stayed away from Wii and insulted it by stealing its Mii design.

They didn't show the controller, if it even exists, maybe it does, maybe it doesn't.

They did however drop a BOMB at the end and i credit them for that.

Nintendo = Innovation = Wii

Whatever, Microsoft just officially got going.... The Live Update is far from a rip-off, okay, the avatars are similar to Nintendo, only they look three.... no 10 times better, 8 person chat capabilities, watch Netflix movies in Instant Queue with your friends, go in and out of games with a party of up to 8 people. Sony just got done trying to become comparable to XBOX Live and Nintendo has never been close, and now Microsoft just pulled way ahead again. And I didn't even put everything the Live update is going to offer in there, and you can best believe XBOX will announce more new titles throughout E3, they wanted to get the first shots in today and they will probably have more announcements tomorrow during certain other companies press conferences just so people don't stop talking about Microsoft during the entirety of E3. And let's not forget, most of us that post on this site are gamers of the hardcore genre, Microsoft wants to win this generation, and to do that they have to appeal to every genre of the gaming world. So while you or I may not have cared for some of the announcements they made throughout the press conference, I as an XBOX 360 fan was very excited about every announcement they made because it showed they are infiltrating every possible genre with something new. The press conference today simply showed that there is alot of games and content for EVERY gamer in the world no matter what kind of gamer you are. Hardcore or Casual.

FF13 was a weak announcement IMO. Exclusives are rare and no one would expect SquareEnix to tie their most expensive game to date to the 3rd place install base. The only thing that I felt was a truly great annoncement was the netflix integration. that was incredible.
