So it's ok to kill people in hundreds of gory ways when you're 18, but even hinting at sex is off limits until you're 21? Gotta love America. =P

say what? Alcohol is 21...age of consent is 18 in the US.

You can smoke, have sex, even die for your country at 18, but no Bud Light for a few more years...

Having sex is ok at 18, but isn't seeing sex effectively illegal until one is 21? Correct me if I'm wrong here, as the laws of my own country are hard enough to learn, let alone foreign ones.

I remember reading something about age of consent  being 16 in some states, but 18 federally (meaning the entire country?), so the FBI could still bust you for doing a 16 year old. Does this make any sense to you guys?

No offence or anything by laughing at your silly laws. I mean it's not like me country doesn't have any. =P

Its Rockstar's right to make the game, and people's right to buy and play it.

But it should not be sold at retail, where clerks often disregard ratings, and where unwitting parents and grandparents assume all games are child's play regardless of rating. ESRB made the right call, and should probably rate MORE games AO for extreme violence. The government should keep its nose out of it, but the industry ought to regulate itself. There's a difference between censoring things, and cautioning people about content. People have a right to know what they're buying, and retailers have a right to protect their own interests by disassociating themselves from extreme violence or pornography.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

Well I think maybe some states allow sex at 16 or 17...some of those states in the South perhaps. You're definitely a minor if you're not 18 though, so any crimes you commit under the age of 18 are committed as a minor.

But no, age of consent is 18, and that's when you can buy porn and such too.  The only thing you need to wait any longer for is alcohol at 21.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Sorry to tell you this, but no matter what state you're in if you're 18+ and the other person is under 18, you get thrown in jail if there's any kind of complaint to the authorities and get labaled a sex offender for the rest of your life.

Even if it's consensual he/she can still get prison time.  And the legal age of consent ranges from 14-18 depending on which state you're in.

TEXAS                    18
The age of consent in Texas is considered to be 17 years of age, however,
until the minor turns 18, he or she can only have sexual relations with
someone 2 years older.
So that means you can be 19 and have a 17 year old girlfriend (or boyfriend) in Texas. Which is where I live! But my girlfriend and I are both 22, so I guess this doesn't apply.
Every state is very different, check out this website i found. Some states have different ages for homosexual relationships even...
