Was not Thrill Kill canceled?
I have a copy, but it was downloaded. I have heard the only copys in existance are some demos from PSX magazine.

I think Rockstar ended up taking San Andreas off store shelves after the Hot Coffee mess pushed the game to AO and released new copies of the game with the offending content removed.

The only other console game to get that rating Thrill Kill dispite the fact it was basically almost finished EA chose not to release it (they inherited it after buying Virgin Entertainment) because of the AO rating.

You're right, it also sais so on the Wikipedia site of the ESRB:

Notably, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was re-rated AO due to the release of the "Hot Coffee" mod.

Note: After the code in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was patched on the PC, a second edition was released with the old "Mature" rating.

So it's ok to kill people in hundreds of gory ways when you're 18, but even hinting at sex is off limits until you're 21? Gotta love America. =P

say what? Alcohol is 21...age of consent is 18 in the US.

You can smoke, have sex, even die for your country at 18, but no Bud Light for a few more years...

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I was just about to mention "Riana Rouge" in the other thread. It was produced by and stars a Playboy playmate.

I've never played "Playboy: The Mansion", but, considering its lame cartoon graphics, I'm surprised it got an adults-only rating.

Anyway, the fact that "San Andreas" is on this list and went on to sell boatloads of copies, the rating isn't necessarily a negative for sales.

San Andreas sold a buttload of copies with an M rating.  It was AO for a VERY short period of time.  AO kills the game.  Period.  An AO game will not be on shelves in any retail stores.  The only way to get it is on the internet, which means the sales for the game will never break 300K.

The hypocrisy involved in this is hillarious. All of these games are porn related barring Rockstar's games who's content is similar to Horror type films (which seem to have escaped the media's notice since their attention turned to VideoGames).

Apparently there was a time when the radio was viewed as the devil in people's homes by similar people.

I would have thought the fear that our governments spread about terrorists would have been enough to satisfy them but it seems that they can't just leave our hobby alone.

The ESRB is in no way, shape, or form, a governmental body.

The ESRB is the industry's attempt to legislate itself, the people "not leaving your hobby alone" are the people responsible for your hobby in the first place.
