It's entirely possible that the review was made based off information that was given at the announcement of the game.

 

I have no problem with anyone giving any game a bad review as long as they at least attempt to back it up, I'll even take a 1 liner. That guy did not give one line in that whole review worth actually reading. Instead it's just a number on gamerankings, nothing more. I could roll dice and it would be a more accurate representation of game scores than reviews like that.

Well it could be that they've played the japanese version, but it doesn't seem to me they've played the game at all.

But it has Final Fantasy in its name... and it's a main game.  That's usually worth at least a 92 irregardless of quality.

Actually yea, FFIV was a pretty good game over all, better than FFVII: I'm not sure, I'll buy it though so this review doesn't matter like all other reviews.

He reviewed the Japanese version I believe.

Anyhow, I understand where you're coming from. I'm more excited about this game than any other game this year (last 2-3 years actually).

I'm with you on this one. The more times reviews like this are allowed to stand, the easier it becomes to phone in the next review... and the next... and the next...

Doing this would get you fired or at least severely reprimanded in any other industry. Can you imagine what would happen if a critic reviewed a film three months before anyone else and panned it without using any specific criticisms? People would ask questions, and rightly so.

well, duh.  The current JRPGs don't seem to be as good as they were on the SNES.  There are some good ones on the current systems though.
