yeah no BC s*cks :( I wanted to buy a 80gig but I don't find it anymore around my place.. same for the 60 gig... they only sell the crappy 40gig :(
I do have a ps2 but I would like to just store it in my room and just use the ps3.. :p

@OP once you get any PS3, I am sure you will forget about most PS2 games before long. You have a PS2, and I bet you would almost never use it if you had a non BC PS3.
My PS3 is BC and I rarely use it to play PS2 games. I really don't see the big deal with BC to begin with. If you want to play PS2 games then use your PS2.
Having a PS3 that was not BC would almost be an asset. It would not render your PS2 useless, which is good in a wierd sort of way.
but if you're a techie and you like the best of the best... then I understand.

i'm pretty sure the ps3 is powerfull enough to totally emulate the ps2.
so yes i think its possible, if sony will do it, who knows
Get an 80gig? They aren't as hard to find as some people on this site make them out to be. You also get a copy of MGS4 =).

You would be wrong. I am one of those people that still play my NES and even older systems, and have them hooked up and ready to play. I have a lot of machines, and therefore I don't want to add another. Also I am not going to pay even $250 for a PS3, so I have plenty of time to wait I think. But even though considering the amount of games available for PS2 the good ones are sadly rare, there are enough of them that I would like to have them available to play whenever I want, as I do now.
Why would I not want my PS2 to be useless? I would simply move it to the crappy TV and keep the PS3 on the good one, like I have done with my GameCube and Wii.

Not ready to pay that kind of asking price. Plus I have little to no interest in Metal Gear Solid 4 (I know, it's blasphemy to you or something).

Well, if you aren't willing to pay more than $250 your will be waiting until 2010 at the earliest, and there will be plenty of great games by then.
