It's been a long time since Nintendo lost Final Fantasy 7 to the Playstation. But times have changed. S-E clearly has been heavily supporting Nintendo consoles; or have they?
Many S-E games released on Nintendo consoles since then have been low budget or lackluster:
Dragon Quest Swords
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced
Children of Mana
These games, though some might argue are good (I wouldn't), are far from AAA games.
Now Square has put some great games on Nintendo Consoles in the past 10 years but these games are almost all SNES ports. Often direct ports which sell millions and millions of copys but I would imagine that the production cost of these games are very low.
Could it be possible that Squaresoft has its own form of "Shovelware" for Nintendo consoles?
If you do not agree with this statement please explain why.
If you do agree with this statement how would you feel about the possibility that some of this "shovelware" money would surely go to extremely expensive high budget PS360 exclusives (FF13)?
Personally as a DS owner I was disappointed that Chrono Trigger was a direct SNES port with a few "extras" thrown in. If Street Fighter 2 can get a full remake why not one of the greatest RPGs of all time? I was also appalled that I actually spent money on games like FFT: Advanced, Rocket slime and Children of Mana which I thought were very low quality for this day and age.
Should someone say something to Sqaure? Or am I just being paranoid?
