Forums - PC - What do you think about this monitor?

So I'm looking to replace my two old 19" crt monitors with 1 22" 1680 x 1050 LCD monitor. I play some games (like Battlefield 2 or Civilization) and I don't want to spend a lot, but I saw this acer monitor.

what do you think? Like I said I play some games, but I'm not anal about it. I care more that it won't break, and has a quality picture, but so long as the update speed is "good enough" i really don't care.

If you have any other monitor suggestions for cheaper or near the same price tell me.

Acer = Stay away

I would get a monitor with at least 1920x1200 native resolution.  But the price is nice

why? Bad experience, poor build quality, lousy image, or is it just because it isn't good enough for the 1337 harcorze gamerz?

I have an Acer just like that one, works just fine, I love it.

I got mine on Black Friday for $170...you won't find a price much lower than $220 for a while though.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

I just don't like the quality of Acer, they have always been kinda of a second rate company.

TBO though this is a nice price for a monitor of that size and it would probable work just fine for you. Just keep in mind that Acer has always been a company that produces somewhat cheep products. You get what you pay for.

A friend of mine has an Acer monitor that is about a year old and I've noticed quite a few dead pixels and the screen always looks a little yellow after its been on for more than 30 min.

Seconded, though mine is a 24" with native resolution of 1920x1200.  No issues at all

I got a 22" LCD 1680x1050 resolution monitor for Christmas and it works great. It's not an Acer though, it's a Samsung but I'm sure the Acer will be alright.

PC Gamer

darklich is somewhat right...Acer is a cheaper company.

That's not bad at all though...I'm perfectly happy with my 22" Acer. I think the viewing angle isn't so great, and it could have more contrast and more gloss...but none of that is necessary to me...it looks pretty good as it is.  I've had it for almost a year now, and a month ago I got a stuck bright green pixel.  I pressed on it with my finger, reset the monitor, and it fixed itself, haven't had problems since.

I tweaked the brightness, contrast, and saturation settings through the monitor and my graphics card and it looks great.

Get a high quality glossy monitor from a company like HP and you'll see a difference...but those cost over $300.
