Forums - Microsoft - What does the x-box 360 have to offer?

The 360 offers.......

Games - Better ones, and more than either the PS3 or Wii have, by far.
Online Content - More demos, freebies, and DLC than PS3 or Wii have, by a huge margin.

Imthe - Care to tell us if these consoles are Falcon, or not? Or are you bothering to check before spouting off that it's still at 20-30%?

They don't have to be Falcon, actually, the new heat sinks were put in several lot numbers before the Falcons hit, also the soldering was relplaced with a non-lead based, heat resistant material.

In other words, if you have an Xbox 360 sold in the last 2 years, and you turn it up on the side, don't play it for 8 hours at a time, and keep it ventelated with a small outboard low-output fan, then wha-laa, your 360 is imprevious to the RRoD, and henceforth you shall be known as the...blah, blah, blah.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

My whole point in asking was the fact that it's very doubtful this poster bothered to check the consoles before spouting off "OMGZ, TEH 360 STILL HAS QUALITY ISSUEZ" yet admits that "some may be older models" which leads me to believe he's never bothering to see what year or month they were made.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

@Zenfolder, you have made some excellent posts. I usually do not care for what you say, but you seem to be in rare form today.

mrstickball I am not in a position as to see the consoles themselves and therefore cannot check what type they are. All I see are the boxes in the office and by seeing this it makes me think twice about buying one. They all may be older models that are susceptible to RROD but if you had a choice between product A(PS3 or Wii) with basically 0% problems and product B with returns due to technical problems which one would you choose. If you reread my post I did say it has the best games and I am considering buying one. But I am reluctant about doing it.

I am sure the 360 has the best games at the moment and the best online and the only reason not to get one is due to RROD. And I am sure people will say it has almost been fixed but as I work in a retail store I can say it hasn't. We are still getting back about 20% of all 360's sold. Some may be older models that have finally "broken" but I am not convinced RROD has been fixed.

3 year warranty. 3 year jibbering warranty. Why don't you send those tards home and tell them, "Hey, you have a 3 year warranty with Microsoft. WTF are you doing coming back to my store with the reciept of a console you bought 2 years ago. You ignorant n00b. Please gtfo go home and call microsoft and diaf immediately after, kthxbai."

That's quality management, imo.

Most are probably people who have no idea about consoles or are too lazy to ring up MS and organise a pickup. And the people on refunds at our store are morons who wouldn't even know what RROD is. And they would get their money back on the 360's and go and buy a newer model.

Xbox 360 offers nothing the PC doesn't offer better.

Except for JRPG's, price point, and preferential treatment with regaurds to release dates....and my favorite, the ability to play while sprawled lazily on a sofa.

If talk generally about the RPG genre, then PC easily wins since it has MMORPGs and WRPGs in the back pocket. Oh, and you don't have a PC on your TV? Because I do, and somehow I can lie down in the sofa... strange, isn't it?

Did I mention 2 player games that don't require the internet?

That's true. Almost no PC games support local multiplayer (except when it's on LAN)

Also fighting games.

That's True.

....xbla is also nice.

Steam is better, and free.

It's also nice to be privy to not have to install games.

And it's also nice that PC games don't even need a disc to play the games. Steam + Cracks = Awesome.

Or worry about system requirements.

Does your 5yo Xbox play 360 games? Because my 5yo PC can play today's games. Heck, even some 8 year old PCs can play recent and awesome games like Audiosurf.

The games are really cheap on ebay.

PC games are even cheaper. The fact that they are $10-$30 cheaper at release AND drop price so fast... it really doesn't burden your wallet.

...and they don't have any of that anti-piracy bullcrap to worry about.

With Digital Distribution, PC gamers don't even need to worry about losing discs of their games.

...so they're tradable.

The GAME store near my home also buys used PC games. Besides, PC games have more replay value, and are much cheaper, so there's not as much reason to trade them.

Plus, games like The Force Unleashed aren't on PC, because of piracy.

And Lucas Arts is going to the shitter... I wonder why? And I also wonder why Capcom (a console company) and EA (biggest money grubber) are more and more keen in supporting PC gaming... maybe they see something most people don't.

...also there's a 3 year warranty for the 360 now, and it's $299.

3 year warranty because of RRODs (not a great tradeoff, is it?). And PC gaming is cheaper, when it's all said and done.

...but besides those things, you're absolutely right. It takes a fool to buy a 360, when a relative sidegrade only costs you $1700 more, and requires only a couple of vast amounts of knowledge concerning modern computer parts, assembly, and software instillation/upgrades. Plug and play is so n00b casual, it's really disgusting. I, personally, hate it.

PC gaming is cheaper, and you're ignorant to think $1700 is the PC equivalent of a Xbox 360.... try a $400 PC.

The jRPGs are the sole reason I have an Xbox 360, since it is my favorite genre. If it wasn't for that, a PC and PS3 would do just fine for me.

"Naturally the common people don't want war: Neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, IT IS THE LEADERS of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is TELL THEM THEY ARE BEING ATTACKED, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. IT WORKS THE SAME IN ANY COUNTRY."  --Hermann Goering, leading Nazi party member, at the Nuremberg War Crime Trials
