Forums - Gaming - Is it possible to Mod... (Wii/360 Question)

Is it possible to Mod an XBOX 360 Controller to work with Wii as a Classic Controller?

Could someone tell me how to mod a 360 wired controller with a Classic Controller's cable and make it plug into my Wii Remote, if it's been done before, or if it's even possible?

Also, I'm open to doing it with a GameCube Controller instead, but since it has less buttons, I really would prefer to do it with a Classic Controller.

EDIT: What I mean is more like "meshing" the controllers together by taking out the CC's insides and putting them in a X360 controller, and simply replace the sticks/Paint or replace the buttons, kinda like the PS360 Controller by Ben Heck (http://benheck.com/04-14-2007/ps360-controller). I know that adding rumble would be a big feat too, but I'm realistic.

EDIT 2: thanks to a few other members, I think converter cable will probably be just fine, but someone said that the X360 controller has no "Z-stand-in", so, Why wouldn't the RB button work as "Z"? Also, I just want a little more assuance that it will work, because I have heard that X360 controllers have some special chips that don't allow them to be used somehow...

Its possible in theory, but it would be far more work than it is worth.

Its possible but why.

It could be done, but I don't think anyone has done it.

Part of the problem here is that the 360 and CC are too different to just convert straight across: at the absolute minimum you would need some kind of chip to convert the 360 signals into equivalent CC signals. It is also possible that the 360 controller draws more or less power than the CC, in which case you would need additional equipment to deal with that.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.

My brother refuses to play Brawl on a GC or classic controller. (He's a car-obsessed 360 fanboy now, the little fickle bastard) He thinks Brawl is the same as Melee, and he thinks that playing Brawl with a GC, Classic, or Wiimote/Nunchuck "isn't fair" because he's "not used to it", even though I PWN him every time in Halo 3.

But if I somehow forge this controller, I can whoop him in every game we play, and he can't pull that excuse anymore. Also, it would be nice to have, even if I do prefer the WaveBird.

But if I was just Replacing the shell and the analog sticks/Triggers/Bumpers, would I still need a chip? And I was planning on using the Classic Controller's insides, so I don't understand how the controller would need more power :(.

If he is not willing to use the GC controller...you likely have to face the fact that he just doesnt want to play the game with you.

Buy two arcade joysticks. 2D games generally play better with them, especially fighters, and it would be loads cheaper and less of a hassle than modding a 360 controller for you Wii.

What you really need is some kind of adapter to plug a USB controller into a Gamecube. I'm having trouble finding such an adapter; going the other way around is easier, but that won't work for your situation.

Yeah, I know. The closest thing I can find is an XBOX (regular, not 360) to PS2 cable, then a PS2 to GameCube Cable...
