Actually Lightning's character design is described as "Cloud but a girl."

Which is why i find it hilarious when people find her hot.

FF6 also had a female lead.

If you think that Vaan or Tidus are hot, then you may have a point. I just wish SE would make more characters like Yangus (a man that looks like a man).

Although one of the greatest aspects of ff6 was that all of the characters had great development, one could make a very strong case that Terra is the main/central character.

(PS. I beat FF3 (6) on snes in 1994 over 4 times how about you?)

Except that it isn't Terra's story.  You're not following Terra the whole way through the game as you are Cecil, Butz (hehe Butz), or Cloud.  She's the first character you meet but the player isn't taking her perspective on things or necessarily following her.

I've played FF6 on the SNES, SNES emulator on the computer (with hacks), playstation, and GBA.  I've darn near soloed the game with Gau and Terra in different playthroughs as well as collecting everything or close to it multiple times over.  I replayed it most recently earlier this year.  ^_^
