Forums - Sony - 360 can have timed exclusives RPGs as long as THS IS TRUE!!!!!!!!!!

FF is not the only JRPG series capable of getting 90%+ on gamerankings. The reason why many JRPGs don't get 90%+ is because most of them are made with the Japanese gamers in mind and they don't appeal to Americans as much as they do to the Japanese. There is exceptions though and one of them is the FF series since the games in FF are made with both japanese and western gamers in mind.

FFVII spinoffs for every system that hasn't got one already!

360: "Final Fantasy VII: Armgun of Ares," an FPS centering on Barret.

PS3: "Final Fantasy VII: Treasure of Pluto," a dungeon-crawler centering on Yuffie.

DS: "Final Fantasy VII: Rulership of Bast," an RPG centering on Reeve/Cait Sith

Wii: "My Fantasy Pups: Final Fantasy VII," a Nintendogs clone centering on Red XIII

I lol'd!  That was awesome.

Probably they didnt lie at all. It could just have been a mistranslation with no false purpose in mind.

Yet I do also hope they do make a remake. But I would prefer FFVI over VII. Sadly the modern FF lost all the charm the previous entries had.

BTW if Lost Odyssey would be named FF it would have sold millions of copies and would be said to be one of the best entries in the series.

Except Final Fantasy never gets average ratings. Plus, If Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey's current sales are indicative of the 360 fanbase's taste in RPGs, then even if it were named FF, it still wouldn't sell that great

This might not occur to you that FF is popular with the mainstream unlike most JRPGs so even on the 360, FF would be huge

Popular with the mainstream? I thought that unless games were Halo, Madden, or anything that came on the Wii, they were simply considered "niche titles" that won't move many consoles.

Final Fantasy is mainstream and generally, the first main FF of every console generation moves the hardware of whatever console the game is on.

I think you're missing sventiga's point.  If it had been named Final Fantasy it wouldn't have gotten average ratings.  The power of the name alone can boost  a game's score several points, just look at FF12.

Not true. Look at the Guitar Hero spin offs. GH is a household name now, but that doesn't mean that the 80's edition didn't suck, and sales reflected that. Take it one step closer and look at the likes of Final Fantasy Tactics, the GBA iterations, Crystal Chronicles, etc. They all pale in comparison to the likes of IX, X, and XII, saleswise. And it's not because they are spin offs, but rather because they weren't up to par to the standard. And once again, sales reflected that. And they all have the FF name in them. So simply saying "If it was called Final Fantasy" doesn't make the game any better or worse.

Now, I plan on playing this game, because I like RPGs. Final Fantasy VII - XII (minus XI), Kingdom Hearts I & II, Legend of Dragoon, Musashi, etc. I'm not gonna skip out on something when it probably is decent. But the fact is that while LO may have been a decent game, it didn't sell that well. The userbase didn't embrace it. What I said in my original post was simply that the 360 userbase doesn't like these games that much.....and we all know the only reason that RPGs are even coming to the 360 is to try and spark up the Japanese market. Other than that, M$ is focusing primarily on America

VII did it for PS1, X did it for PS2, so I can't argue with you there. But that's only because FF has it's fanbase. The same person that buys Nintendogs or Viva Pinata isn't going to buy FF. A good example of "mainstream" games that always seems to be used is that if you go up to a random stranger and ask "Do you know who Master Chief is/what Halo is?" and they'll probably say yes. Ask about Zidane Tribal, and you'll get punched in the face lol

I imagine if a remake does happen, it'll turn out as bad as the MGS remake. It'll ruin all of your nostalgia for the original with terrible voice acting, bad character design, over-the-top FMV, etc.

Remakes are never a good idea. New games please.

They wouldn't know who Zidane is but what if you asked them if they know who Cloud Stife is?

Lost Odyssey is a new IP.  How come 360 owners almost ignore JRPGs entirely even though PS3 owners are certain to embrace them when they start coming out?
