Forums - Gaming - The ps3 has an amzing gaming line up in 2009

I have a feeling WKC will only make it out this year in Japan.

Valkyria Chronicles looks great, though. It'll be my first SRPG.

Isn't Fallout 3 coming to 360 as well?

So basically Killzone 2 didn't even really exist at that point in time, and now we have a release date.

Where's Alan Wake, again?

2009 release, was pushed up. Very little doubt, however, that AW is gonna own KZ2 hard in the face. Have you ever seen that trailer?

Hm?  It's set for February 2009.  That's a release date, and it's pretty definite (it was only delayed to give Socom and Resistance more room in the marketplace). Alan Wake, in comparison, has no release date whatsoever.

And we're just messing with each other. :P

About the trailer, yeah I've seen it. Actually, I was just rewatching it because he said it looks as good as Killzone 2.  I wouldn't go THAT far, but it does look damn nice.  Will it own KZ2?  They're entirely different genres, so it'd be pretty hard for either to own the other.

No it wouldn't, lol. The "different genre" business is for n00bs. I'm a human being with a working brain. I am perfectly capable of comparing the quality of a game across genres, much like I am with movies and music. I also don't descriminate about games across genres. My favorite genre is "good."

Judging from Killzone 1, and knowing the propensity for Sony and the Killzone developers themselves to totally screw the pooch, if I had to venture a guess, it would be that in the very excellent genre of FPS games, Killzone 2 probably won't end up near the top. I mean, Half-Life 2, ep 3, Resistance 2, if KZ2 is even only Halo 3 good, the critics are gonna Haze it. I would give up my hope for shining reviews right now, if for nothing else, lots of reviewers disrespect PS3 exclusives.

Now, the 3rd person action survival horror/shooter genre is much less populated and hasn't put out a decent game since RE4. If Alan Wake is even halfass good, it'll get 8's and 9's.

Now, there is no doubt that Max Payne "owns the face" of Killzone 1, despite the genre difference. IMH and educated O, there is at least a 50/50 chance that such a comparison will eventually be made about these 2 games. I fully expect KZ2 to be an average to good FPS, no doubt, but Sony is trying to create Halo, and Killzone ain't it. They would have done much better to simply name the game something else.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Also, why the hell isn't Half-Life 2 Episode 3 coming out on PS3? WTF man?

Well Alan Wake will come along at a release date fitting for blockbuster games.  Unfortunately when Sony realized they could never make the lie that was KZ2's E3 2005 trailer a realistic truth, they relegated the final product to the dead zone of release dates......

Bunch of friggin babies in this thread.

Whereas yours have always been debatable. There is no denying that you are very pro xbox.

Then again, everything is subjective, including my own opinion.

In either case though, i agree with SpartanFX...

2008 is still the year of the playstation... It's just extended to include next year aswell.. ;)

Also regarding tekken 6 it should still be tba 2008.. think i heard something about a september release which would be great.

Actually every opinion is debatable .  Hence the word opinion

I'm not pro Xbox at all.  I'm pro games.  A casual glance at Metacritic tells you that all through 2007 the Xbox 360, Wii or PS2 were the places to be if you're pro games.  That changed to an extent after the PS3 got GTAIV and MGS4, but the notion that the PS3's line-up for 2008 obliterate's the Xbox 360's is quite ridiculous.

The Guerrilla Games of today =/= the Guerrilla Games of 2004.  I'm not going to go much deeper into this, because it will lead to a long argument that has been made many times before, so it's really kind've futile.  And they aren't trying to remake Halo, unless by Halo you simply mean "popular FPS."

The reason I mentioned genres is because your like/dislike of a certain genre can slant your opinion of a game.  I can't stand Oblivion, but I don't get into WRPGs in general, so it would be wrong of me to say something like, "Heavenly Sword is a much better game than Oblivion."  It may be to me, but to the majority of the world this is not the case.  Even if you yourself try not to do that, many people do, which is why I said what I did.

Also, as far as I am aware, HL2EP3 is coming to the ps3.  Only Left4Dead is not.  In fact, some new HL2EP3 concept art was revealed today, and all three platforms were mentioned.
