Obviously, tilt control for the skating and IR controls for the "tagging".

It would work very well. The skating tricks would be tricky though.

 Do yourself a favor and try them out.  One is on the Dreamcast and the other on XBOX.  They are fun as hell.

After how poorly NiGHTS did, I wouldn't count on it.

Or Wii Fit balance board support!  That would be cool...

 Nights was great for its time, but it hasn't aged well.  It's one of those games that is much better in our memory than it actually was.

 On second thought, maybe not.  It's a roller blading game, not a skateboarding game.

I don't think you can skate through tilt and tag with the IR pointer, because of how difficult it would be to do both at once. Jet Grind Radio Future implemented skating and tagging simultaneously and it would be a huge backwards step for it to go back to stationary half circles and slashes while cops make up the ground in seconds to catch you. A better implementation would be using the analog for movement and the IR for tagging with the A button to activate it.
