How long? Hell I've been bored since 2005. Last real FPS that captured my interest completely was Farcry. All the rest have been sorry sad attempts to capitalize off the genre's popularity which has induced one of the most oversaturated genres in the video game market history. Seriously it's too simplistic of a gamplay concept to make so many of them. We need to take this genre in new directions for it to keep going, something that's only been done very few times throughout it's lifecycle. I mean at least think of combining it with other aspcects of other genres for once instead of the same old run of the mill style that has been beaten into the ground over and over again.
I mean I like an FPS just like everyone else, but like every other genre I can only play the same style for so long til I get bored.
I am suprised that no one is copying BioShock since that game sold really well
Sex is the same and I never grow tired of it. I consume the same general types of food and beverages and I never grow tired of them. I talk to the same family members and friends and it never wears thin. And as long as the storylines are engrossing, I doubt I will grow tired of the FPS genre.

Most of the stories in FPSs are wafer thin and uninteresting. There are exceptions though. i.e. BioShock
when Virtual Reality makes FPS's into RTFTPs. lol
But with HL2:EP3's art released all I can say is a while.. 20 years or so.

Never!!! Honestly, we won't know until after Timesplitters 4 and start seeing some decline. When some devs actually venture out and start making things other than shooters (not just FPSs), then you can assume the FPS decline.
To throw something out there, I say the market starts declining after a year, June 2009, or after Call Of Duty 5 comes out.
Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. " thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."
i doubt people will get completely bored of it.
but around the beggining of next gen it ownt be the dominant genre anymore
I don't know about Halo's... However, maybe when the top FPS games get boring is when I'll get bored of FPS games.
We'll have to see what developers like Infinity Ward and Valve can do and so far, I've really been enjoying their work.
