A terrible tragedy is about to befall Youtube, and it is up to the members of Vgchartz to prevent it.

Currently, the top two most viewed videos on Youtube are the Evolution of Dance and Girlfriend (a music video of a song by Avril Lavigne). Both videos are at about 90 million views, with Girlfriend being behind by about 300,000 views. So, I must ask you to help the Evolution of Dance to stay ahead no matter what the cost. Every day, Girlfriend closes the gap between the two videos and it must be stopped.

Now, there's a lot of motivation to involve yourself in this heroic act, and I'll tell you just why you should:

1. Evolution of Dance is an original video meant to entertain, which is the essence of Youtube and the internet in general. Girlfriend is just a music video of a song you can listen to by several other methods (and the music video just involves her stealing the boyfriend of some nerdy girl and parading around in her pathetic Pop fashion). It wasn't long ago that her hair was black, or whatever color she was using to give off her fake image.

2. One video is timeless, and the other isn't. Guess which? Evolution of Dance will be funny for a long time. It features a goofy white guy with mad dance skillz breakin' it down to songs that we got sick of hearing years ago, but making us love them again anyways. Girlfriend is just another crappy Pop song that no one will care about 5 or so years from now. Seriously, ask the average person if they still listen to a single Backstreet Boy song.

3. It will rob the internet of its proud owners. If a video aimed to tween girls becomes the highest viewed video on Youtube, it will be a goddamn sacrilege. We nerds built the internet and all of its humor. The type of people who listen to Avril Lavigne haven't contributed to the internet and are robbing it of its brilliance. Who do you think created Youtube, a bunch of Avril Lavigne fans? No, behold:

I assure you that less than 1% of site creators, moderators, or even hackers are Avril Lavigne fans.

4. The man who made EoD, Judson Laipply, is a one hit wonder. Although he claims that EoD2 is coming, right now, he is only known for one thing. The people who up Girlfriend on Youtube are from RCARecords, which already has several videos with over a million views. This man deserves to have our attention.

We must prevent Girlfriend from passing Evolution of Dance, no matter what it takes. Scream it from the rooftops. Pay for radio time or advertise it at a sports games. Vandalize walls with messages not to watch her video. Or you can take the direct route, and go to the source. Go to every person that listens to the song or watches the video, and teach them of the Beatles (or Alice Cooper for that matter, but I only want cool people listening to his music as it requires great knowledge of music to understand just how brilliant he is). And if they refuse to change their ways, just remind them of how much they loved Complicated or whatever crap they got sick of quickly.
