I think people have a problem with ubisoft because even though Nintendo also produce low scoring games, they also produce very high scoring games that a lot of people enjoy. Ubisoft on the other hand havent produced anything notable for the Wii since Red Steel and RRR which again aren't to the quality that many expected. Ubisoft knows that there is a market to be tapped in the Wii market that seems to be emerging but they aren't producing a balance of games for that audience and the audience you'd find on a gaming forum. I see that as the real problem here and that's why Ubisoft's low scoring games are being called out as shovelware. |
You're missing the point. I'm not calling any of those games shovelware. I'm trying to point out that some of these Ubisoft games that people have considered shovelware, when 99% of the time they haven't played them, may not actually be shovelware at all. I'm sure people thought going in that The Dog Island was just another shovelware Wii title. Why? Becuase you play as a dog and Ubisoft makes it. Turns out the game wasn't half bad. There's also the problem that anything even remotely bad as a game is considered shovelware. People don't realize that games that score in the 50s and 60s aren't shovelware. It's usually the games in the 20s and 30s. Ubisoft does make bad games, but they don't actually make much of the shovelware that haunts the Wii owners on here. You can thank UFO and Conspiracy for most of it.
