Forums - Microsoft - Ok people. Its time to start getting excited for Banjo Kazooie

Sorry - I will never be excited about another Rare game before actually playing it ever again. "Have[n't] been giving the title nearly the respect it deserves"?? Games are constructs of computer code, not people! They aren't entitled to have "respect".

"Namco did a much better job of Starfox on the GC than Rare did for any except the original."

According to Metacritic, you are incorrect in your assessment. The Namco Star Fox game (Assault) received a cumulative score of 67, whereas the Rare Star Fox game received a cumulative score of 82. Ergo, Namco did not do a "much better job".

Also, what is up with everyone saying Rare sucks? They may not have released any great games (Viva Pinata excluded) recently like Battletoads, Goldeneye or Perfect Dark, but they do not "suck" as most people seem to purport. I think Kameo and PD Zero were above average games, and their most recent game for the X360 (Viva Pinata) was exquisite.

Not really. I'm not saying that you are a perpetrator (but given you're largely the face of Nintendo fans on this site), but as an old N64 owner and Banjo lover I don't think Wii owners on this site have been giving the title nearly the respect it deserves. Especially as it is from the original Banjo team.

The cynic in me says this is all because Microsoft now owns Rare and Banjo will now be on a non-Nintendo system...

But hey, maybe thats just me.

I take a wait and see approach, I am not one of these people who talk endlessly about games half a year or more before they are released. My expectations for the game aren't especially high, because the average quality of Rare games has been going downhill over the past decade and the direction of the new Banjo game isn't exactly what I hoped for. I am not a friend of editors of any kind and I dislike car combat. Got to wait and see how much of the game these parts make up for.

Anyway, it's still one of the most interesting upcoming 360 games and I'll definitely try out the game once it's released.

The bolded part could be seen as insult by some (or many) people on this forum.

^This.

As in go buy us some coffee.

I bought a 360 mainly for this game. Hell yeah I'm excited.

Even if it's but a shard of Rare's former glory, it's still better than most other games. I'll be happy if this game has the same kind of positive impact as Viva Piñata, but my guts tell me it's going to be even better.

At least I hope so...!

The article on IGN says that its running on the Viva Pinata engine...Anyone got any idea if Viva Pinata runs at 60 fps (doubt it)...Might give some indication of what frame rate to expect as I'd really like some smooth game like this for my 360 like what we had on the PS2 with Jak and Ratchet & Clank

I just can't muster any excitement for this title. Rare hasn't made anything that I've cared about since Conker's Bad Fur Day. I still play the Xbox version on my 360 every once in a while but Rare's style has felt dated for quite a while now, IMO.

The graphics are very pretty but the game looked insanely boring in those videos. I think I'd rather play Kameo than bother with this one. Or Ratchet and Clank Future or Super Mario Galaxy for that matter.

Its probably moreso the fact that it's Rare. Their studio has pretty much sucked since the late 90s and the quality of their games (nevermind their excessive delays) has been hard hit. It's hard to expect quality out of a subpar studio. To give you an idea, Namco did a much better job of Starfox on the GC than Rare did for any except the original. Trying to hype people up for a Rare game is like trying to hype up the next THQ game.

But not this Rare.  This is the same team that made the original Banjo's.

Way to go insulting most of us. Good job.

OT: Lets wait and see. Rare is not what it used to be. So caution is advised.

Not what it used to be? Based on what, Perfect Dark Zero which was a launch title I think and Viva Pinata (which was never going to be "epic" in scope really no matter who made it).

I'm getting the feeling that they know there's a lot of doubters out there and this will be make or break so it could easily go the other way, ala maybe a similar way with Fable 2 (Peter Molyneux, <-spelling)

i feel sorry for Nintendo fans. It was a huge mistake that after Nintendo 64 the next Banjo Kazooie is coming only on XBOX360...

This kinda looks interesting, I'll wait and see more about it.
