Forums - Microsoft - New Banjo Info

The game looks FANTASTIC!!! And that's coming from an old school Banjo fan. I lol'd at the N64. Good to see MS can still have a sense of humour about those kinds of things and recognize the game's roots.

Is someone really excited about this game? :O

Cant wait for this game. As a fan of the previous two games I`m willing to trust Rare for the moment with this new direction, so hopefully it turns out well.

I didn't like the trailer as it looked like Twisted Metal Banjo Kazooie. But this article and the videos really made it seem a lot better. I really want to play it now. I still am not sold on the vehicle thing, but we'll see. *crosses fingers* I really want this to be a good game, rare hasn't been the same since the N64 days.

Thank goodness Rare is still OK! I really hope this game can stand out and be as good as the previous games, or at least close to them.
The innovation is a good sign, shows they still have the creativity they had in the N64-era.
I bought a 360 for this game, so it better be good.

@Kurakasa:
Yes, some people who actually love to play a game on the 360 that might border Nintendo brilliance, me included. So far IMO only The Orange Box and Gears of War succeeded.

EDIT: Maybe Bioshock is that good as well, but I can't seem to find any time to play that game.

Well, you can think that nintendo offers brilliance but that is not the case for me. I think a lot of 360 owners don't care about these kind of games.

Glad to see that at least the character "voices" and sound effects have remained intact after all these years... too band the Banjo and Kazooie character models still look like @$$.

Basically, it looks like Rare has turned Banjo-Kazooie into Grand Theft Banjo... the whole demo they showed off in the video is basically "drive from point A to point B, collect item, bring said item back to point A to open said door or trigger said event." Funny that the one gameplay mechanic that they DID keep intact from their pevious platformers is one that fans have complained most about, and that's all the wanton item collecting / scavenger hunting.  Hopefully the vehicle gameplay is solid and there's alot more combat action in the game to break things up.

Still on the other side of the fence looking over at this one, maybe if I like what I see at E3 I'll actually get up on the fence but I ain't holding my breath.

They only showed the hub world. The levels are through the doors(which they didnt show us.). I think the levels will have less driving and probably bring in the puzzle pieces. Fans complaing about item collecting? That is what platformers are. There is more collecting in Mario games than Banjo games. Think you should rethink that statement.

Yeah, I think collecting and unlocking things is a vital part of any platformer.

Check out this article IGN did on Banjo N & B.  This clarifies the games elements and Rare's decision to alter the gameplay.  Sounds awesome.
