absolutely no way. Halo is still the benchmark for xbox360. And it will always be.

Gears of war does have the advantage of being released closer to christmas, a bigger 360 userbase and possible higher sales due to a price drop.

No way. Gears is big, but nowhere near as big as Halo.

Gears of war is going to be the best game this gen, hands down. The sales will naturally be good, would not be surprised if it would sell in 7-8 million range. But since halo is one of the best games too, it will still be selling for a while. So no, GoW will not sell more than halo 3. :)

Only Halo 4 can have sales like Halo 3.

Even if you would include PC sales wouldn't come close which I do enjoy anythign Epic comes out over bungie. Then again I think Mad World commercial helped a lot to get the name out if they can get another commercial like that out that would be cool.

i dont think gow2 comes out it will but when gow3 comes out, which probably wont be as good as gow2, it will outsell halo3 because hype will almost be the same but the install base will be much bigger. personally i dont think that halo3 deserved the high sales it got. i preferred number 2.

EDIT: the mad world commercial was good but the halo commercial that they made where its all action figures and like its during the war and at the end it says hope or something like that. my wording is really bad hopefully someone else can explain it better or hopefully post a link. i normally would but for some reason this computer at this place in serbia doesnt have youtube.

A lot of Gears of War 1 sales were the shooter fix for that year. Same with Call of Duty 4 in a sense. So Gears of War 2 has a lot of that going as well, but unlike last time, it'll have a lot of high en shooters already out, plus a good deal of competition in the holiday season in that genre. Meaning this competition will probably push sales down, and it may not even make 5 million this time.

So I say no but sales I think will be at about 5 million with a 2 million tolerance.

Gears of War 2 - 21.5m+ Userbase

Projected EoL - 35m+ Userbase

Growth: 16.3m units (Gow1-2), 13.5m+ units after GoW2 Launch.

Halo 1 - 0.0m Userbase

Halo 2 - 17.0m Userbase

EoL - 24.1m Userbase

Growth: 17.0m units (H1-H2), 7.1m after H2 Launch.

So there's far more potential with what GOW2 will have, as the 360 has atleast 3 years left in it's life.
