ksv - So you'd prefer that 3 years from now, the biggest drive possible on a X360 would be 20gb?

No I'd prefer that they put in a hard drive of a proper size in the first place. Either that or left the slot completely empty, so everyone could decide for themselves what size they wanted.

All these new SKUs with varying degrees of functionality is confusing for the consumers. Sony are doing it too of course, I don't have any idea which version of PS3 I would have to get to have full PS2 compatibility, they lost me a couple of SKUs ago.

For me, the whole point of a console is to have a standard hardware that will be completely compatible with itself. A facelift (DS lite, the new PSP) etc is fine, putting in 65nm rather than 90nm to reduce power consuption and heat, all good. Just don't add/remove functionality all the time.

Every XBox 360 should have the same functionality, outputs, compatibility and add-on capability. If I want a hardware headache, I'll mess with my PC. The console should keeps things simple. Or is that too much to ask?

... I can get a 60GB HDD for... $45 with 3 dollar shipping. For $109 I can get 320GBs.

Seems like m$ is releasing another ripoff HDD? yep.

they don't make 320 GB drives... for xbox.

if M$ would do like Sony and allow you to switch out the 2.5" HDD in each one of their HDD cages then it could.

Oh well by the end of the year i will have a 500GB 2.5" HDD in my PS3. And for $115, estimate price, too.

And what functionality has the Core Xbox 360 lost in the past 3 years? What upgrades are they incompatible with? The only actual addition to the 360 that older units did not have is HDMI, and that's it. The rest is modular, and any user could take a 2005 Core, and put a 120gb HDD on it, or whatever.

I do agree that MS should (IMO) have just the Arcade model, and then upsell to the bigger HDDs.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

@superchunk: So you think they'll tell the current Arcade users who don't have a hard drive to F off? Doesn't seem very likely to me.

Well I wouldn't condone such an action. Only about 10% of 360 owners are core/arcade owners. When you figure in the core/arcade users that have since bought a hard drive, they wouldn't be pissing off all that many users.

Microsoft does not know how to keep their cards close.

They've given Sony a week to decide what to do about the price drop, rather than be shocked by it at E3.

Also, MS is including another Sku? So they'll have 4 Skus

Arcade for 279
Pro for 300
60 gig for 350
elite for 450.

It was a great chance to win the race again. I have to agree mate, Ms falls once again keeping some great cards out of the game. All in all is a great deal that will boost the sales by a huge or small margin...

Even if it's only 5% (it's probably more), it's still at least one million people. Personally, I think it's madness to ignore 5% of your userbase...

you proved ksv's point.

Why have it so that it's like a PC and you need to buy certain add-ons to retain functionality of it's bigger brothers?

Wait...are arcade systems going to come with hard drives now? I'm confused.

Im with obieslut, like seriosuly... are they trying to confuse you into buying a 360.

On another note, why cant you use any kind of HDD with ur 360?

isn't my XB a pc in the first place anyway ????

@epsilon : we don't know we are speculating

@finnbar : for profit man, why do you think Sony has all those awkward memory format in there product lines ?? just to make sure you have to buy their prod or a no name brand

@NJ5 : yeah or you bundle it with the first couple game requiring a HDD... I think it could be a good thing for the XB to make it standard to allow devs to use it.... now I see your point too, I just see my interest first there lol :P
