I believe that Nintendo future will be the path of sustainable disruption.
I don't know if they will be successfull in doing that.

BTW many talking about the crash of '83 forget to cite competition from home-computers.
Commodore in that years started an agressive price wars with Atari and other manufactures.
The only one that didn't follow the price war was Apple and it is also the only that survive to these days

Nintendo still has no meaningful competition of the kind that counts: competition for the Touch Generations line. Say what you will about other products doing stellar, but you can't deny that key entries in the Touch Generations line have a remarkably good track record of selling insane numbers of copies which are beginning to rival the generation-defining games of the 8- and 16-bit eras.

Until one of their competitors makes a truly effective response to Nintendogs, Wii Sports, and/or Wii Fit, I don't think Nintendo will have any trouble whatsoever capturing the market at large. Because, of course, the market at large means far more than it did before those three games came along. Just like the market at large meant far more once Super Mario Bros, The Legend of Zelda, and Metroid came along.

@Resident hazard-----> Do you mean that theres somewhat strict control with the Playstations too? Since in your post replying to me if without Nintendo stricting 3rd parties, there'll be another video game crash do you mean even SONY have strict control on 3rd parties too?

On your another post even MS and SONY gone theres still apple and EA that can compete with Nintendo? This will be interesting... :) Cant wait what will happened in this console war in months/years to come.
