Forums - Sony - Why I want KH3 to be PS3 exclusive!

I'm about half-way through Kingdom Hearts and I'm loving it so much.  I've picked up Kingdom Hearts 2 and will play it immediately afterwards.

Eventually, I'm going to have to get a PS3 for Versus (and maybe for Heavy Rain).  Given that, here is what I want for KH3.

I want a strong, hopefully almost Pixar-like graphical upgrade.  Thats it.  I don't want fancy Wii game controls and mechanics.  I want a third Kingdom Hearts with story advancement and a far superior graphical interface.  There are some games where I would prefer the addition of Wii controls in hand with a small graphical upgrade for their next installments, but this isn't one of them.

Given that there is between a 0 and 1 per cent chance this game will be on the Xbox 360, I would therefore like it to be a PS3-developed game (if it went to PS3 is could actually become multiplatform quite easily given the series' strength in the West and Microsoft's penchant for giving Square Enix money).

I'm not overly optomistic that my wishes will come true though.  I can't convince myself that PS3 exclusive would be the best thing for the series business-wise, though I do believe PS3/Xbox 360 multiplatform would be just as competitive as Wii exclusive.  But given the heavy rumours that Disney wants the series on the Wii, I'm not holding my breath.

ok well I would love this to but lets start off with a negative you don't realize and WONT untill you beat KH2. The next game isn't going to follow the old story... There will be no donald duck, no micky mouse no sora no riku none of them. It will be a new entire game with Keeblades.

When i found this out i was SO ANGRY.

They are killing the franchise..

What I want to know is what cartoon series are left for them to mine for KH3?

Of course, Donald and Goofy could do a cross over into the land of Mario & Peach. 8*>

Now what console would that be on? (Kingdom Hearts Mario -- 10M seller on Wii at least).

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

I actually think it's more likely to be on 360 then PS3.

Disney has a better working relationship with Microsoft to my knowledge and to be on an HD console it's probably going to take a hefty sum of money.

Also... disney characters in pixar like graphics would be... weird.

You need graphics that actually play off their original art style.

But isn't disney supporting blu-ray? I think it would make much since to put it on a HD-DVD console. Still, no matter what console, the PS3 or 360, it's more likely to be on, there's about a 90% chance that it's wii-bound. Then i'd say a 7% chance for the PS3, and a 3% chance for 360.

Disney is putting movies on Blu-ray yeah... It's not like Sony can shut them out of the industry... they need Disney more then Disney needs blu-ray.

Furthermore Sony doesn't own enough of blu-ray to shut them out.  They only own around 30%... and Disney owns part of the copyprotection of Blu-ray.  A liscense it owns... with Microsoft.

So even when it comes to Blu-ray... it's closer to Microsoft then Sony in it's working relationship.

Strangely though, Disney never supported HD DVD. They were Blu Ray exclusive from the beginning and I don't think they have released a single HD DVD.

I can see how you think that, but the game the ending alludes to is the PSP game.  Why?  It's a letter from Mickey telling them about something that happened long ago, and the secret preview at the end of the game is from Birth By Sleep

I read an interview with Tetsuya Nomura (the game's director and lead designer) before KH2 or CoM came out, where he said he had no idea where Sora's journey would end.  Keeping in mind he already knew the outcome of KH2 at the time, that doesn't sound like Sora's part in the story is finished to me.  Now, he could just be a side character, a 'la Lloyd in Tales of Symphonia 2 or Revan in Knights of the Old Republic 2, but Sora definitely ain't done.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Cause they co-own the liscense for Blu-ray's copy protection and make money that way.

If Kim Possible isn't in the game, it won't matter to which console KH3 will go.

Disney and Disney Channel are almost seperate entities other than the money still goes to the same place. It would be amazing if Kim Possible showed up in KH3 (I don't think there is a better modern day candidate). I can't really imagine her in 3D though.

This is one of the only games I wouldn't mind going Wii exclusive.

I think I actually prefer the characters looking like this...

Rather than this...

Wow, I completely 100% agree with this argument - I'd never thought of it before either. I much prefer the characters' look in game that the FMV.

The characters wouldn't look like that at all.  They'd look even closer to their movie equivelants than they do now.  Just at a higher resolution with better environments.

Uh... who's to say the Wii would go back in graphics and not forward? Arguement is flawed.

Comon guys the PS3 has a better processor allowing BIGGER and more rich environments. The enemies can be smarter and the graphics would be like Ratchet and Clank: Future. It would sell MILLIONS and I (Emphisis on the I) would actually buy it. (I've only made 2 mistakes when it comes 2 buying stuff, first HAZE second Xbox 360)

I don't see what waggle controls will add to the game.

Swing the remote, swing the keyblade? I had enough of that in Zelda: TP.

Honestly, what was the Wii-mote tailor-made for if not swinging a sword or sword-like weapon?

It's a button replacement. The motion you do in No More Heroes and Zelda is the same you make in...Mario Strikers Charged and Galaxy. You swing the wiimote instead of hitting a button. Like Galazy, I'm sure KH could add some pointing mechanics, but at the expense of graphics and processing power.

Why not make KH3 for PC instead? it would have better controls, graphics, interface, etc...

better graphics, perhaps, but controls work better with analog instead of a mouse. Granted, you can buy a controller for PC. You can make that arguement for just about any game, though. But hey, you can easily lump PC into he PS3/360 category.

Another one?

*sigh*

Here is my last arguement from the other thread.

"Why Kingdom Hearts III Might Go To The Wii:

In 2002 the Kingdom Hearts series launched. You know what people thought about it? That it was going to fail because of its casual apperance. Since the PS2 was a casual system, guess what happened. It went on to become a multi-million seller. This was since that people did not see it as a hardcore game. It was seen as casual because of its quirky characters and TV icons. The Wii has seen incredible success with the casual market. Putting Kingdom Hearts on the Wii would be a great move since most of the casual demograph would see Donald Duck and quirky characters and what casual would not buy that? If it went on to the PS3, the people who would buy it would be its die hard fans, a significantly smaller market than the casual buyers.

If it goes to the Wii, it will have monstorous sales. This is pretty much a no-brainer. Since the Wii has the casual fanbase that Square Enix is looking for, you can pretty much guarantee that the game will sell millions. The Wii is expected to outsell the PS2, and the PS3 will be lucky to pass the NES. With a console upwards of a hundred million, it would be insane not to release it. It also does not make sense to go multi-platform. At the absolute earliest, Kingdom Hearts III will release in 2010, and by then the Wii will be ahead of the PS3 and 360 combined. Multiplatform means they would have to use the two completely different engines of the Wii and PS3 and make Kingdom Hearts 3 out of scratch for both of them. Not only could this potentially make the game release later, it could also cost a lot of money and they might not see all of it back.

And I hear some people saying that if it goes to the Wii, the gameplay and graphics and story would suffer. I toss this away as ignorant bullcrap. The Wii is much, much more powerful than the PS2. And the PS2 was not even the most powerful console to release Kingdom Hearts for. If graphics truly mattered, they would release it for the Xbox. And Kingdom Hearts does not rely on realism, it relies on art style. I'm sure the Wii could pull nice art style for Kingdom Hearts. And some say Kingdom Hearts is cutscene heavy and can not work for the Wii. Once again, the Wii is more powerful and can handle the cutscenes for Kingdom Hearts and make them twice as nice as Kingdom Hearts II. And for the gameplay. If it is released for the Wii, I do not think that Square Enix would make the WiiMote for the Keyblade as the only choice. They could offer many different control schemes for it, such as the one I just mentioned, mapping the commands to the different buttons/movements on the WiiMote, and using the command menu.

Final Word: The Wii is the most logical choice for Kingdom Hearts III."
