Nice catch, ssj12. I missed that.
I had 2.40 installed on both of my systems. When it found the update, it offered me to check a box " Turn system off after applying update" I did so and it worked flawlessly. I watched it download, I didn't have to push a button and it restarted itself, I had to leave, when I came back hours later, the systems were off and everything was installed.
I love this new feature. Thanks 2.40. :)

You made my day.

I prefer to download onto a flash drive then install on the PS3. Seems faster that way. Plus isn't your machine tied up until update is downloaded? I can't remember.
When do you think they will have it up for download onto PC?

All true, but it takes SEVERAL hours for the PC downloadable update to be made available. If it was instantly available, I would use that method instead of having my 2 PS3s individually download the update.
'Bout time... *start to download....gets to 18% then fails*
Fecking internet connection.
@west-phoenix-az
For 2.36 I tried doing that but for some reason it wouldn't recognise my flash pen drive as a storage media (as in when I selected it, it just said no storage media found...or was it no update found, can't remember). But the PS3 saw the flash pen and showed most of it was used up via the update but I could copy files to and from it....
Guess I'll try again, might be something wrong with how I did it.
But then, there is the Stardust update....stupid ISP.
Hmm, pie.
I couldn't get it to work the first few times I tried. Then I found the instructions:
Source: http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/About/SystemUpdate/pc_update.html#update_PC
I had trouble getting my PS3 to recognize photos and videos, but I saw the "view all" option that let me find everything on the flash drive. Not sure if you can "view all" for the update process.
