How many people who are (really) aware of the concept of publishers in the videogame industry are also not aware of when high quality games are released?

Having played Boom Blox I am not surprised at all by its sales. Game quality has far far far more to do with a games sales than the Nintendo sticker on it. Marble Mania is strong evidence of that.
Nintendo simply needs to make more first party games that diversify its genres and levels of maturity. Nintendo's biggest problem is that they're only making games that make the console appealing to certain demographics but not all which severly limits the possibility of future third party support especially if the user base for those third party titles simply isn't on the Wii.

Brain Training gets a lot of advertising on TV from what I have seen, and so does Sight Training. How comes games like Excite Truck, Endless Ocean, Pokemon Battle Revolution, Korinpa Marble Mania, Super Swing Golf, Donkey Kong Barrel Blast, and Fire Emblem failed to sell a million? |
Fire Emblem doesn't sell a million copies because the game is an SRPG which are very niche(with the exception of FFT series). A sad and true fact.
First they publish the game and after that they want Nintendo to develop the game too.

I can explain the sales of any game on that list. My point was Nintendo games don't instantly get amazing sales.
Nintendo does well because it sticks to what people know. People know Mario, Zelda, Kirby because they have been around for many years in games, tv, etc. Also Nintendo stuff is by and large quality and always fun. So they have an assumed quality about there games - but it by no means guarantees good sales. Not all Nintendo games sell well.
If you don't understand why Brain Training and Sight Training are selling well you're totally lost on the entire success strategy of the DS and to a lesser extent Wii.
Biggest problem with Okami, Z&W, Boom Blox is lack of known IP.
Z&W is VERY niche gameplay type and for what it is, it's sold VERY well. Point and Click puzzlers are all but dead and were considered non-existent on consoles before Wii.
EA still hasn't figured out casual packaging. Boom Blox is a horrible name (you have no clue what the game is about) and the box art/description are just as bad. This title is depending totally on word of mouth cause no one would pick it up off for shelf for $50 with no clue as to the type of game it is.
Okami is killed by it's own art style and the fact you play as a dog. Neither have mass appeal factor. Too bad.
Now look at games with known IPs: Lego Star Wars and Lego Indy sell best on Wii, My Sims sells well. Carnival Games sell great because it's obvious what the game is and looks like fun at a low price. Same with Game Party.

Why do people get turned off by the art style? Can't people play a game with an art style that isn't photorealistic?

Like they did on GC, N64, SNES and NES? Ok, SNES had streetfighter.
