Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo should publish good third party games so it would sell more

After going through the million seller list on Nintendo consoles and handhelds. I am thoroughly convinced that if the Nintendo brand is on the box it would sell much more.

If Nintendo published games such as Okami, Zack and Wiki, and Boom Blox, I believe it would have sold much more.

But would not that defeat the purpose of having third parties.

I think the biggest problem with some of these games may be the lack of ads or the mistargeting of ads.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Its not the "Published by Nintendo" which is selling these games ... These games sell because they're high quality, use known franchises, and are marketed agressively.

If 3rd parties would put the same effort in their games and in the marketing as Nintendo does, I believe their games would sell much more.

I always wondered, what determines what games get agressive marketing?

From my understanding ...

On internally developed third party titles, the publisher spends what they believe is an appropriate ammount on marketing for the sales that they expect. On titles they do not develop, it is based on the contract they have with the developer.

Then how in the world did games such as Sight Training and Clubhouse Games become million sellers? There are about 3 different versions of Brain Training games and they are all multi-million sellers on DS and Wii. You think if a company like Majesco or Bandai published it would have sold as much? I doubt it.

Okami is littered with issues... not a Nintendo quality game.

Boom Blox has a horrible U.I. this is not something Nintendo would allow in one of their games. The gameplay is at least fun though.

Zack and Wiki is a good fun game but it's story was pretty lame.

Prepare for termination! It is the only logical thing to do, for I am only loyal to Megatron.

Rather than the million sellers list you should try looking at the published by Nintendo list. Plenty of their games never make it to a million. Nintendo knows how to make good games with broad appeal. Most people don't actually bother to see who published the title before buying it.

Brain Training gets a lot of advertising on TV from what I have seen, and so does Sight Training. How comes games like Excite Truck, Endless Ocean, Pokemon Battle Revolution, Korinpa Marble Mania, Super Swing Golf, Donkey Kong Barrel Blast, and Fire Emblem failed to sell a million?

I have never seen Brain Training commercials. But I'll take your word for it. I have seen Boogie and Boom Blox commercials yet they didn't sell much. If Nintendo was on the cover I wouldn't doubt it would have better sells.

As for Excite Truck and Fire Emblem, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't have sold as much as it did if Nintendo brand wasn't on the box.
