Fake but this would be a cool way for Nintendo to release a new handheld with out making a totally new platform. (Think GBC to GB)
They could release widescreen games that could be shrunk to standard DS view and work on either DS.
I am not saying that this is going to happen; I would never risk trying to predict Nintendo's behavior.
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

I'm looking at the ad in my Nintendo Power right now. It's definitely not actual graphics on the "screen", just artwork.
I also notice that the red battery light is lit up in the ad. Maybe there will be a widescreen DS that sucks the juice out of the battery. ;)
