Forums - Gaming - Blu-Ray already obsolete?

So, apparently there's a much BIGGER disc out now...

Pioneer has apparently made a 400GB optical disc. Maybe now MGS5 development can have enough space =)

Wonder what this will do for Blu-Ray, as there is a lot more space to be had. Hell my 3 pc hard drives combined don't add up to the size of one of those discs.

This has got to be thread number three about this .....

By the sounds of the article, this would just be considered a Blu Ray disc since they say it's compatible and because Pioneer is part of the top secret Blu Ray organization of spies and informants, crossing the ocean on motorboats looking fo drug trafficers during Late Night with Letterman.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Apparently gone, as I searched before posting.

Not really, because there is already a Hitachi 100GB quad layer disc that's pretty far in development. It's compatible through only a firmware update with most current Blu Ray players.

I was glad of the more recent adoption of LTH technolgy, which is already supported by PS3 through a recent firmware update. It's a organic dye technolgy like those found in modern DVD discs, which makes manufacturing and producing Blu Ray discs much more cheaper.
