i think people forget how many things sony owns as a company.. and they get the gaming part of it confused with it. and think the whole company is losing money... thats the bad part about the internet .. when people see big headlines that say SONY LOST 40 MILLION DUE TO THE PS3... people tend to look at it as the whole company as being 40 million in debt....

Sony:

Sony as a whole is really not that profitable ... they have insane revinues but they make less profit than Nintendo ...

if you are saying nintendo makes more money than sony then you might as well say they make more money than microsoft neither of which i believe...

Why don't you read the financial reports yourself then?

Sony Net Income 2007: 126 billion yen

Nintendo Net Income 2007: 174 billion yen

Are we comparing Sony worst year with a good year for Nintendo and saying that Nintendo is more profitable?

Are you saying this is Sony's worst year financially?

The facts are right in front of you, and you still deny it like a foolish fanboy. Nintendo has more cash ready at hand than Sony does, and that is a fact.

Sony makes more revenue, but has not been as profitable. If it wasn't for the gaming division Sony could have made over a billion dollars on the 2006-7 financial statement, but as it stands they basically broke even.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

I was talking about the effects about the PS3 launch. We need a chart to compare how much both are profitable not just this year.

but if it wasnt for the game division than sony would have lost money for the past few years. a year or years which is better?

i foresee this as the last time the video game industry sells consoles for a loss. stringer has seen how amazingly well nintendo has been doing and will make sure that their system is cheap next time. no one knows what ms will do, but they can keep reporting to their stockholders "we lost another billion on the xbox, but our os sales make up for it!" the shareholders will see it as "we lost a billion dollars that was stupidly spent."

This is kind of Off Topic... but I think G.E. should enter the market. I don't think anyone really realizes how much that one company owns.

All Numbers are for the 2006 year...

Nintendo

Revenue: $4.5 Billion

Net Income: $840 million

SONY:

Revenue: $68 Billion

Net Income: $1.04 Billion

Microsoft

Revenue: $44 Billion

Net Income: $12 Billion

General Electric:

Revenue: $163 Billion

Net Income: $20.04 Billion

I mean, holy crap G.E, $20,000,000,000 profit each year? 0_o
