If Sony had cut Blu-Ray and made a PS3 a bit weaker than the 360 and priced it at $300 at launch, it'd be on par with or ahead of the Wii right now, have tons of games and tons of exclusive games and steamroll right to another 100+ million. It really is only its price hurting it but unfortunately that's already turned off a lot of people and it can't be remedied very easily very quickly.

 catch-22.  Sony didnt push the envelope of portable music, they stuck to the walkman brand and concept, it wasnt as though people woke up one day and there was a mass audience for mp3 players or new portable devices, Sony simply stood pat and didnt push the genre of portable music and thats why they lost it, the market is only dictated by consumer to a certian extent, its up to companies to evolve in the proper ways to capitalize on evolving interests as well as to move popular interests forward, which is what apple did to portable music, while sony stood idle.

burning money to gain market share works iff you're the only one doing it.
as soon as another one comes in to play the same game, both loses.

with MS buying exclusives, it might just work (until sony starts pushing the same thing)

if the same game is being released on more than 1 consoles. will you be buying the one with exclusive/most contents if you own multiple consoles? hell ya.

Sony should just walk into rockstar's office and get them to name their price for making GTA4 exclusive.

In what way is Microsoft's wallet not as deep as Sony? Last time I checked, MS had about $37 billion and Sony had about $4 billion in the bank. 

I thought it was the other way around, Sony was in fiscal trouble while M$ was raking in the dough from its other divisions.

i think people forget how many things sony owns as a company.. and they get the gaming part of it confused with it. and think the whole company is losing money... thats the bad part about the internet .. when people see big headlines that say SONY LOST 40 MILLION DUE TO THE PS3... people tend to look at it as the whole company as being 40 million in debt....
