Forums - Microsoft - Any news on Mass Effect 2?

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/859/859623p1.html
fine, her's your damn link.

"I believe we'll be Xbox 360 exclusive for at least a short period of time," BioWare senior manager Matt Atwood told CVG. "We're still working out the details on that, but we've had a great relationship with Microsoft and done very well."

interpret it the way you want.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... I need this. - The Gaming PC and PS4, and Xbox 360, and thePS3's . Well what are you looking at? What do you think I'm some kind of a jerk or something! - And this. That's all I need.

Funny how all the people with XBL sigs are saying it's not coming to the PS3, when no one has a clue.

I really don't care, as regardless of where it goes, I will get the PC version, I just find it strange that people will state total guesses as fact.

??? we don't have a clue, so you are saying that havingg a exclusive contract in hand is not a clue? it's a question of basic contractual law..... even if EA wants to make it multi, if bioware signed a contract prior to its aquisition by EA, EA has to honnor it no matter what, the only way would be to cancel the contract and/or redo one and for that they'd need MS concent... I don't see what is hard to understand in that ????

I couldn't care less if it goes multi, it's just stupid to assume EA will breach a contract over profitability when in the first place i doubt that ME 2 on PS 3 would be profitable as it would need an installment of the first one first and is already profitable like that on one console.... I don't see why EA would even go through the problem of redoing a contract or breaching it... it's not worth it....

There's very little chance of ME 2 or ME 3 being on the PS3. Microsoft has done everything possible to keep Mass Effect as a X360/PC exclusive, and I doubt that with 2m+ units sold that Bioware has a big reason to release ME2/3 on the PS3, as you'd have to also re-release ME1 on the PS3, which adds more cost to the equasion.

Now, BioWare/EA could release the ME triliogy once it's completed on the PS3 - maybe even 1 BR-DVD if they wanted to. But I doubt it'd be within ~6mo of the trilogy being completed on the 360.

Now, as for the PC, I think that since MS is publishing it, that they will try to do day-and-date for the PC side of things.

Again, just because EA bought Bioware doesn't mean they can throw out any written contract that they've made with Microsoft. EA could easily of published ME2 by themselves, but MS is doing it. If MS is publishing the PC version, why in the world would we expect everything else to change, to fit PS3 fanboy desires? Not every game is going to be on the PS3, deal with it.

exactly what I was about to post, on top of that if I recall ME 2 and 3 are suppose to use the character you built on the first one, so if you are missing the first opus, it willl be a nightmare to dev for the skill mechanics and the difficulty level, basically it would be 2 different games beside the environement and the story and still with the story you'd be missing all about what happened in the first one....

same reason I don't see the point to release just MGS 4 on XB if you don't do the entire main serie first....

Eh. I don't think that an issue with it coming to PS3 would be due to the whole character progression from ME1>2. After all, how could you expect the game to garner a new fanbase if you couldn't play it without beating the first one?

Again, my main issue has to do with the fact it's a real trilogy, with 3 planned games. It's like releasing Lord of the Rings trilogy, with TTT first to DVD, without Fellowship of the Rings at all on DVD, but in movie theaters....It's just not the greatest move for a userbase. Other games outside of this (MGS, FF, Halo, ect) I think would work well, because the story isn't always as cohesive as what Mass Effect is, and how close the launch cycles of each game.

Mafoo - Us XBL people are citing the documents and statements that BioWare and MS have made, as well as whatever has been out there since the EA acquisition. The PS3 owners are the ones stating it'll come to PS3, no doubt, so it's pretty much a stalemate.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

There is no public knowledge of this contract you speak of. That's why all the speculation. In fact, Strategyking92 link leads me to believe there is no contract, or the BioWare senior manager would not say things like “I believe we'll be Xbox 360 exclusive for at least a short period of time”. If there was a contract, it would just be an Xbox exclusive, and that’s that.

From the sound of his interview, it sounds like they plan on working on the 360 version first, and if MS want to pay for exclusive rights, the door is open for them.

Again, just a shot in the dark guess, like everyone else here.

if you say so :) except if you are a good senior manager you don't talk publicly of exclusivity contract, especially if you are in the process to be bought by EA... but that leads you to think the opposite... up to discussion, for me looking to all the interviews, that point more to an actual exclu contract than anything else....
without saying that I'm god damn sure it has been announced back in the days as exclusive (and stop saying there is not an exclu if it's not only on 360 when people will get through there brain that MS signs an exclu and can exploit it for PC and console)...

but like I said I don't care... the simple idea of making ME 2 on anything else than PC and XB is economically stupid.... but hell it's EA now since when are they doing smart things up there......as long as I get it on XB I'm fine

If by multiplatform you mean an Xbox 360 version followed later by a PC version? Then yes, it is looking like it will be multiplatform.

The reason you spends crap loads of money on an exclusive, is to sell consoles. If there was a contract, you bet your ass MS would make sure we knew about it.

As for the EA comment, yea, it would not suprise me to see ME2 coming to a cell phone near you.

if microsoft published ME for PC, why is the EA symbol on the box, when ME for 360 had the Microsoft symbol?

How are Mass Effect and Bioshock the same? Bioware and MS came to an agreement bout the Mass Effect Trilogy before EA bought Bioware. MS published Mass Effect. Bioshock was not published by MS and was a timed exclusive.
