Ooh, thanks for the link: it'll help with the E3 thread.
I'm still skeptcial that Red Steel 2 will show (although not that it exists): if development was rebooted halfway through, there's not much time to have anything worth showing. Or maybe I'm just hoping, to increase its chances of not being mediocre.
@Shameless: If Beyond Good and Evil 2 hadn't been announced, I would have agreed. As it is, I'm with dib8rman: Ubisoft's kind of in a lull right now. Still, I'm looking at effort, not results, so whether the games come out good are less important than whether or not they're simply shovelware.

At least as far as I'm concerned, the problem I have with Ubisoft's stated attitude towards the Wii is that they think the Wii's userbase is mostly composed of retards. It's not directly about the quality of the games, although their attitude does affect that too.
I'm sure that they'll realize they're wrong at some pointh though (or have already realized it but the PR team hasn't caught up yet). As noname2200 said, things could become clearer by E3 which is what many are hoping for.

from Ubisoft i just want RedSteel 2 and a Prince of Persia game, from there on, they can do whatever they like.....

I'm still skeptical about this.
From where I see it, they publish Japanese/European games for upper tier(Tenchu 4 for example) while making "casual" watererd down ports/spinoffs themselves. Red Steel 2 might be game that can change our opinion if ir turns out good, but I keep my hopes very low on this one

You're guaranteed one of those titles this year, maybe both.
@the_bloodwalker: that's a perfectly fair attitude. A lot of what Ubisoft has been saying implies that they've drank the Kool-Aid, especially when it comes to the Wii. Which is why I started this thread in the first place: to my surprise, it seems that Ubisoft is putting at least some effort into Nintendo systems. Now, I hardly think they'll be numero uno when it comes to third party support (that's Capcom's job
), but I just don't think it's as bad as some people think it is.
Mostly though, I'm hoping Prince of Persia doesn't suck.
I forgot, they are also developing a Shawn White's Shovelboarding game for the Wii. You get the idea now, look at the quality of the HD game and look at the Wii one.
You can expect similar for PoP, in other words, a DS quality spin-off oriented to babies.

Bets with Conegamer:
Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.
I'm not sure where you're pulling that hope from. Not a single one of those games shows the tiniest bit of potential right now. The only good game Ubisoft has ever put on Wii is the first Rabbids game, and the result of that game's success was to force the team to make rushed half-assed sequels every year that pale in comparison to the original.

one of the few times i agree with you
| noname2200 said: As we all know by now, Ubisoft's name is currently mud in the minds of most Nintendo fans. This is understandable after Ubidays, and in light of some recent comments by Ubisoft executives and employees. But while updating the Nintendo E3 thread, I noticed something I hadn't anticipated: it's possible that Ubisoft is actually putting some effort into their Nintendo titles, as we'll see at E3. Granted that My Weight Loss Coach and the Stop Smoking game are hardly what most of us think of when we hear "games", but they're both actually pretty intriguing concepts that can help a person in real life, which is why I think Reggie said Ubisoft "gets" the DS. I don't think I'll personally be interested in Dogz, or Weight Loss, or the smoking game, but it's beginning to seem like Ubisoft hasn't completely neglected Nintendo just yet (although their PR machine is terrible). So what are your thoughts? |
