This game is so amazing. If they make a brand new one, it had better be like this, and not a piece of shit like Chrono Cross.

Chrono Trigger is the better game but Chrono Cross was still amazing in its own right IMO. It probably just wasn't your cup of tea.

The problem with Chrono Cross is it's story didn't make any sense. It didn't make any sense as a Chrono Trigger sequel, nor did it make any sense as a self contained game.

All in all it was just very poorly written with no character development anywhere due to having like 50 characters.

Some people complain about the battle system too... but i thought it was fine.

It was not poorly written, that is just opinion. The no character development thing was a lie. A lot of the characters were optional so there was no need to have much backstory for them. The characters that actually mattered in the plot got some pretty decent backround as well. The story is great, it was just marred by a few pacing problems which don't ruin the actual plot. You guys keep saying that too many JRPGs were using the same plot. However, when a high profile JRPG does have a more unique plot, you just claim it was very poorly written or something like that. If anyone wants to oppose, atleast give me valid reasons. I will be glad if anyone wants to back me up.

Fine.... where to even start.

Well lets start at the beggining.

How Chrono Cross began.

1)After the defeat of Lavos, but... in the future. The ideal Future Robo returns to after the game... Robo creates and is intergrated into a scientific station and made into the FATE system to research time Travel.

PROBLEM 1: Time Travel no longer exists. Time Travel was cause by Lavos. The time gates disapeared slowley as he died. It should of died out well before then presumibly after the race to find Chrono's mom.

PROBLEM 2: Robo has seen what can happen when a robot loses it's individuality and is part of a greater system. Being integrated and transformed into the FATE system would of been the last thing he would of wanted to do after the Promethues incidient.

2) Said time monitering station crashed all the way back into the past.

Problem 1: Time travel does not exist anymore

3) Robo wipes the minds of all the scientists and changes their memories just so they don't screw with history

Problem 1: Robo, once again would never do this due to the fate incidient.

Problem 2: Robo had no problem changing the future in the past, so suddenly having a "Do not effect the past" mentality does not fit.

Problem 3: How does El Nido showing up out of nowhere not effect time anway? It GREATLY effects time even if they don't do anything of note, just the fact that other nations know they exist is a problem.

4) Said Time station going back in time causes a balancing effect that sends an alternate dimension city from the future where the repilitans won instead of humans into the past. Creating the games Dragons.

Problem 1: This balancing effect never happened in the first game, they heroes traveled back and forth throught time without some alternate dimension beings showing up.

5) The alternate "Another world" is supposed to be dangerous and could destroy the home world.

Problem 1: This doesn't seem to hold for the Reptillian world. The fact that every other time an alternate world can be created there is no problem, yet Serge's death causes a problem that could destroy both realties is inconsistant.

Problem 2: Alternate dimensions were never created when the Chrono Trigger crew used time travel. It was a direct changing.

6) The ghosts of Chrono Marle and Lucca show up to Serge

Problem 1: They are kids. Yeah, according to PS1 shortly afterwords the Kingdom of Gurdinia fell... for what i assume was a sequel that never came to be and instead they went with Chrono Cross... but still... it's not like they all died then. Kid was raised in an orphanage run by an adult Lucca.

Problem 2: No Ayala or Frog? Why wouldn't they show up. They are equally dead at this point.

7) Schalla merges with Lavos

Problem 1: She accidently fell in "the place beyond time". How did Lavos get there? Lavos is dead. This is just a further attempt to take a seprate RPG and tie it to Chrono Trigger.

Problem 2: Lavos is just a space parasite. He's not some super powerful evil villian, there are tons of them out there.

Problem 3: Chrono Trigger indicated that Lavos WANTED to be killed and he created the time portals subconsiously because deep down he was developing a consciene through interaction with humans and by using their DNA... and he knew that Chrono and the gang were the only people could do it. This is possibly the biggest point.

Problem 4: These two combined can destroy Spacetime? Lavos is just an average world eating parasite and Schalla is just a human. Where the hell do they suddenly get all this extra space time destroying power from?

8) Belthasar planned the whole thing.

Problem 1: Belthasar is REALLY lazy. Minor point... but still. Regardless he should be trapped at "The end of time" since once again... Time Travel doesn't exist.

Problem 2: Kid is Schalla's clone... sent to the present through non existent time travel to save serge and create the alternate realiteis that never existed.

9) The two worlds Merge back together as one in the end.

Problem 1: Why? There is at least one other dimension out their... the reptiallian ruled one. Serge still died... there is nothing done that prevented this in the other dimension, there is no reason for them to merge back together... at all.

10) Serge returns home... and forgets everything

Problem 1: Again... why? Furthermore... if this all was fixed... and since we're now taking the "this fixes the dimensions" angle again... El Nido should of never been sent back in time and it should be back in the future... and not a research station...  Why does Schalla suddenly have that much power and is like some sort of super goddess?

Problem 2: Serge and Kid marry... why? She shouldn't even be in the present anymore... how the hell is she there... why is she there... does she have her memories? She's searching for Serge seemingly, and we know they get married. Despite the fact they shouldn't since she was created to stop Schyalla. Who has been stopped in the past and since that "fixed" reality that means she should of never been created.

Furthermore the previous "Radical dreamers game is set in another parralel reality.

The overlying plot of the game makes no sense because it simlatainiously uses many different theories of time travel and alternate dimensions shifting through them as the game progresses to create a whole lot of nonsesne.

Keep in mind... those are just the problems I remember.

This is a TBRPG, or what?

Does it have a lot of strategy involved?

Are there any riddles?

It looks fun, and as much as people seem to love it, I might purchase it.

Yeah, it is a TBRPG.

There is plenty of strategy involved, especially in the boss fights.

People claim it is easy even though it is pretty challenging yet never frustrating.  I never felt that my characters were underlevered or overleveled and no grinding is needed.  For a turn based game, it is a ton of fun to play.

The game does seem messed up but that is only because those are the consequences of main characters from CT for time traveling so much to save the world from Lavos.  You know how affecting the past can have reprecussions on the future.  There are other people who would agree with me.

Those other people would generally be wrong.

Chrono Trigger stuck to one form of Time Travel.

A completly linear kind. You could only travel between Lavos' most active times. Furthermore time progressed normally through these times.

1 Day in 2099 AD = 1 day in 1000AD. Time wasn't messed up because of this. There were no alternate realties as no alternate reality forms of them were present in the end... this is how you can tell there was no such problem.

Chrono Trigger wrote itself around those paradoxes and so they never existed for them to be a problem in Chrono Cross.

Traveling through time doesn't suddenly make Schalla a supergoddess, time travel able to work anymore or Lavos being teleported to somewhere for no reason when he was killed.

Furthermore if you would read what i wrote, you would note that even traveling through time would not create half those problems which come from the writers having inconsistant rules of time travel and alternate realties.

Furthermore... follow your own standard expectations.

Explain with valid reasons why all those plot conflicts aren't plot conflicts through actual reasoning rather then just saying "Time Travel!"

Yes, but there aren't any random encounters. Which fits the game perfectly.

There were a few "problems" with Chrono Cross, which, according to many, didn't live up to the Original Chrono Trigger.

  1. The Story: The main story was not bad at all. It was actually very good and can hook anyone who play it. However, the connections between this game and the original was actually really poor. Chrono Trigger is around time travel, Chrono Cross is about paralel worlds. The contexts were so different that it is believed that it would be better for ChronoCross to not be linked to CT.
  2. The Character Roster: The good thing was you had a lot of charactes to choose from and enjoy their personal abilities in battle, and gathering all of them gave you access to the storybecause it was viewed from different perspectives. The problem was that they were too many and having/not having most of them didn't actually changed to course of events nor the story development. Their influence was minimal compared to Chrono Trigger characters.
  3. The Endings: How many of you were angry with the no-ending ending? (*raises hand*). The problem was that for a story so well written and the surprising plot..... None of the endings wasn't quite satisfactory, not even on New Game+. Supposely the real ending was when you defeat the final boss with the chrono cross....

I personally liked Chrono Cross (except the endings). but I would have preffered to be a different story with no connection to Chrono Trigger

Thank god I hate random encounters! So you can see the monster on the screen and you can choose to fight or not?

If you go near it you get into a fight, but they are usually easy to avoid.
