Forums - Gaming - the doom appreciation thread

I thought it wouyld be fun to start a thread to appreciate one the greatest (and one of my personal favorites) games of all time Doom. It is an amazing game so full of win, I still play it whenever I get the chance.

Anyway the idea for this thread is for people to pay homage to this game, talk about the goings on in the world of doom, share experiences and hey maybe even start a multiplayer match or two on the internet.

Doom was great fun but the classic FPS has to be Wolfenstien 3D or Duke Nukem 3D in my openion. Doom just didn't have quite as much personality as those two.

Oh and also Doom 3 is not good. Classic Doom games ftw.

no-one appreciates doom??? That makes me very sad

Doom was awesome. First co-op FPS stuff I played was in Doom 2.

Doom is far and away a beter game than either Wolfenstein or Duke Nukem, in my opinion. The 360 download was a great purchase, because I'd never gotten to play Thy Flesh Consumed before. It was the weakest of of the four episodes, but still fantastic, and I'm a completist in any case.

One of my first games I ever played, and my first M-Rated one for sure.

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... And this Nintendo DS. - The PS4, this Xbox 360, and the Gaming PC, and the PS3's, and that's all *I* need. And that's *all* I need too. I don't need one other thing, not one... Yeah, the original Doom games are so fun it isn't even funny. The Doom remake on N64 was a lot of fun too! I didn't play much Doom 3.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S.
