on a serious note, you should definitely take these things as a complement dtewi. People thought you were older because of your posting style, which shows a lot of maturity in how you conduct yourself and how you address others that is very impressive.

I don't want to sound like a nitpick, but it's "compliment". Complement means something different, and under different circumstances you might confuse people. =P

dtewi, like others said, it's because you are mature in your posts that people are suprised when they find out how young you are. It is true that as time goes on you will learn and be given the opportunities to grow and become wiser, but it would be a bad assumption to base someone's intelligence on their age. Anyone who does that towards you is being fallacious. =P

Jesus Christ. I must have had 10 people asking me in the last week.

I am 12, people! Get that through your head! STOP ASKING!

This is why I didn't say my age. I knew this was going to be the reaction.

Just stop asking me!

OMG. I'm almost as old as your grandfather!

Hey, you punctuate, spell and write better than a lot of college freshmen. Good job.

Actually my father is 44 and you are...?

No, those are complementary, as in "no money charged".

Complement means "free".

Complementary means free.

Complement...the easiest way to describe it is with an example. Say you have a nice business suit and a tie that goes well with it and brings out the color of the suit. You'd say the tie complements the suit.

EDIT: Here just check out the dictionary's definition: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/complement
