Forums - Website Topics - Is Anyone Going to E3?

In the future, I imagine vgcharts will have representatives going to E3.  But at the moment, I don't think it is happening.  Is anyone going?  It would be great to have a direct line of information...

I used to go every year. But after having kids those days are over. I think it's harder to get in nowadays anyway. It used to be just buy your pass and throw a company name on and thats it. You could be anybody.

How much does it cost to go?

You can get into the E4All very easily now that's the public's E3, this E3 is game business ppl only.

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

I don't know what it is this year, but when I went a few years back, and I might be forgeting I think it was like $150 or $250. You got a discount if you preregistered early(I think 50 bucks cheaper). I even went back when it was in Atlanta, I actually prefered it there, but LA is fun. BTW that was just the show floor price for Thurs. Fri. and Saturday Morning, we didn't go to any of the earlier conference type stuff. I even tried to setup a private apointment only session with Accliam and THQ(at the time the company I worked for owned a fair amount of stock in both companies, I figured it was in my right.) Yet I failed with that one.

I was at the ones when they first showed: Gameboy color, Gameboy Advance, DS, Gamcube, ps2, x-box, i remember the conker's bad Fur day bar(sweet) getting whipped by a woman with an actual whip while playing Perfect dark(oddly both occured in the Nintendo booth). I remember how insane in particular the Japanese women were for pokeball toys, I'm not kidding they launched them into the audience and they'd dive to the floor to get them. It was really exciting back in the day being that back then you had to wait two months later for magazine coverage.Of course now the internet makes you feel like you're there.

Like I said I don't know about now, but back in the past despite the "business ppl only" rule, they never checked any proof you actually worked for a business, you simply paid with your credit card online, and told them the name of the company and what avenue of work they were in. In fact at one point they were really lax a guy in front of me throw a fit that they lost his badge and they gave him a new one, later I saw him and he joked saying he just came and bullcrapped his way in.

Hey,

I have to do some market research on events such as E3/PAX/E4ALL. If anyone's familiar with any of these and has 10 minutes to spare, I would greatly appreciate it and your comments would be a huge help! If you're interested, please message me. Thanks so much

I am familiar with E3, In the past anyone used to be able to go and pay a ticket fee. It was at a Giant convention center. But now they changed the rules. E3 is no longer open to the public. E3 is now officially an invite only event. Developers who will be displaying their games have to vote on who goes to this years E3. It won't even take place at the convention center anymore. Now E3 has rented out a series of Hotel rooms where developers will strut their stuff. It sucks, but I can guarantee you VG Chartz ain't getting in.

HOWEVER, there is E4 which is supposed to be E3 only it will be available to the public. All the little people who want to go see the games can go to E4. It takes place some time in September or something and will occur in the same convention center that E3 used to occur at.
