Forums - Gaming - The biggest game at E3? Final Fantasy 13.

@Pooper: Because Japan is the only place in which a FF has defined a generation.

Plus userbase ratio to game, Japan is Huge, the other regions are just high. Compare GTA with FF in the west, there's no comparison since the difference is extreme.

And if you check, FF X-2 and FFXII have all been decreasing in sales since FFX.

FFXII sold 1 million less than FFX in America.
FFXII sold 1.4 million less than FFX in Others.

While Japan remained almost the same. It's obvious that FF is a big franchise in the west, but not even close to be the biggest, for example Zelda, Mario, Halo, GTA, Smash Bros, GT, Mario Kart, MGS, Gears of War are all bigger. So any game in any of those franchises will be bigger than FFXIII.

Back in the day you would be correct about FF not being relevent in the west but FF7 brought the series to the mainstream. As for the declining sales figures I think that more directly corilates to the quality of the games getting worse more then a declining interest in the series.

That's why the quality of FF 13 is critical and why its interest at E3 will be high. If FF 13 sucks then I'll probobly be putting the series down for good personally.

It was on topic because other than GT5, FFXIII is the next major exclusive for PS3. The largest PS3 exclusive to date has been MGS4 and, while its too early to call it a flop, 185k sales for what is probably one of the biggest budgeted games in history must be uncomfortable for Konami and Sony. It is registering HUGE drops weekly (much more so than comparable games) and will probably pick up sales around the holidays but no way Konami and Sony are happy about it.

If MGS4 disappoints saleswise, it will be very bad for the industry as a whole and Sony in particular.

How the fuck is "what game that will be shown at e3 this year will be the best" the same thing as "sony must be scared because mgs4 failed"

He is 100% right you know.

2+ million sales in 3 weeks = utter failure.

Konami is shaking in their boots at the complete lack of success they are having.

We all know damn well they didn't recieve any money from the iPod, Macbook, PSP, Ericsson, etc... advertisements in the game.

the bolded=failure.

1. It's not done selling, there are people that want MGS4.

2. It sold a ton of PS3's (with the help of the 80 gig of course, but MGS4 sealed the deal)

3. 80 gig shortages seem to be happening, vgchartz will get some news on that in a few days.

No mention of Gears of War 2? Heh. Seems like the Sony fans are out in force today on VGC.

What does liking Final Fantasy have to do with being Sony fans?

lol great attitude from a mod there.

Of course he leaves out the fact that Sony fans are talking about the topic and leaves out the others arent. that might be the reason behind no one mentioning other than sony titles.

I know for a fact. sc94 pumpkin face mrstickball dmarika trestres arent sony fans/

OF course not, but I am a fan of the final fantasy series(Even if I do think its overrated). Not to mention that the best selling games this generation are nintendo games, and any announcement of Animal Crossing,Wii X, or Zelda will guarantee amazing sales. ON terms of impact. What would be more impacting a game that was never announced and out of the blue was? or A game that was announced had a trailer, and was expected?  He asked a question and we are answering it.

Read what mrstickball said. It was clearly flaimbait. He singled out a group of people. He had no reason for saying that, Just flaimbait. If he wanted to say GeoW2 then he had every right to, but he doesnt have a right to say "Sony fans are running ramped because no one mentioned this game yet"

Let us also not forget FF XII wasn't recieved very well because the games battle system played out like an MMO, it was like playing XI offline. A completely different team made that game, which explains why it is probably my most disliked game in the series and I am pretty sure much of the FF fanbase feels the same way.

FF XIII however is being made by the same team that made X if I am not mistaken, this is why people will be anxious to know what this game will bring to the table, not to mention Versus will be made by the KH team. Two great dev teams working on two almost guaranteed great games.

He is making claims, but does not read into it. He does not understand why X-2 and XII sales declined and reading up would have most likely caused him to stop himself from making such an uninformed comment.

I don't know; if it was sarcasm he's really good at making it seem like it's not.

Uhhh... my entire comment was me being sarcastic. I was making a point to show the users comment that I quoted was uninformed.

Internet sarcasm is without a doubt not one of my strong point.

:)

I really want God of War 3 to pawn every eastern developed game. We have enough of these already. But the God of War franchise, really deserves to be the biggest Sony exclusive (though it rapes the Greek Mythology, anyways)
And if there will be some material, (which i doubt), it will BE the biggest E3 game.
But...
There is a small chance of something new from Halo Universe to show up. So, just wait...

OMG...I MISSED OUT SOME GAMES

TEKKEN 6, FINAL FANTASY 13, GOD OF WAR 3 AND UNCHARTED 2

:)
