Forums - Nintendo - I finally beat MoH: Heros 2 Critique (no spoilers)

I've had this game since Christmas and have been playing it off and on for the last few months. I finally sat down tonight and powered out the last three levels of the game.I know that there has been alot of mixed reviews about the game so I thought I'd add my two cents.

I thought the controls for the guns in the game were excellent. The IR was resposive as long as I kept my wiimote pointed at the screen. Every thing about the controls for the GUNS screamed excellent craftmanship, however, all the controls in the game were not as well done.

I found myself infinatley frustrated with the Artillary cannon and Mortar controls, They were just god awful and had me screaming at the television in frustration at times. The machine gun was only slightly better and I recall once when I activated it dying because I had to bring my hands up from their resting position to move the damn thing around.

Another thing that irked the hell out of me were the way chechpoints were done. For some reason the developers couldn't grasp the concept of objective completion=checkpoit. Some checkpoint even required 10 to 20 minutes worth of fighting and 3 objectives before one showed up. As it is nearly all checkpoints appeared randomly through out the game which would lead to a signifigant amount of frustration when I had to fight my way through an ass load of nazi's and then try to use the mortar or artillary cannon. They could have hid the fact that the controls suck so bad if they had put a checkpoint right before you had to do them instead the checkpoint placement highlights the crap controls because you have to fight your way to them every time you die.

The final thing that irked me was the respawing. It seemed like you never had enough time to move from one space to another in the game without the guy you just killed respawning right behind you and blowing your brains out. And it isn't like I was camping waiting to kill all of them either, I would shoot him watch him disappear while reloadin and then bam another nazi in the same position doing the same damn thing. I sat at a particually troubleing spawn point just to see what would happen and I shit you not I killed so many of them I ran out of amno and they were still comming. Respawning evey 2 to 3 seconds.

If it wasn't for the arcade mode, and multiplayer (which mercifully allows you to avoid the Artillary Cannon and mortar) this game would be getting traded. As it is those two features are the only thing that saves this game from a C according to my rating system.

RATING:  B-

Have you played Metroid Prime 3??

I´m curious to know which one has better controls..?

I haven´t played MOH 2..so don´t know.

My opinion is that MP 3 had great controls

I thought Metroid had better controls but just barely, MoH:H2 is on par with MP3 in that regard.

Good that other companys also achieve great controls..

That brings hope for future Shooter games, like Conduit

I actually think MOH's controls are a little better. In multiplayer you can customize them as well. MP3 is the better game though. Without a doubt, these are the two best controlling shooters on the Wii. This can't be debated (well sensibly).
