Ben, can you please cover up the spoilers in your post.
Ben, can you please cover up the spoilers in your post.
I figured this was a spoiler zone hehe.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release. (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
It's the first game I actually like more than RE4. So yes, I agree 100%
4 ≈ One
It's a great game, but I think I still like the first one (MGS) better. Some of the cut-scenes were just a little too long (and boring) for my tastes. Still, it's a great game and I hope they keep coming.
Currently Playing: Saints Row 2 | Battlefield 2 | Company of Heroes
Recently Beaten: Gears of War | Super Mario Galaxy | Darwinia | MGS4 | Sam and Max Ep. 4, Portal | Mirror's Edge | Uncharted | Mass Effect
Looking Forward to: Alan Wake | Splinter Cell : Conviction | The Last Guardian | Batman: Arkham Asylum | SMG2 | Mass Effect 2 |
Metal Gear Solid 4 is top notch in all the important things.Graphics ,playability ,presentation ,sound ,lenght ,story. All a 10.
There are people that may prefer Tetris.Or even Nintendogs.Just to say that things are subjetive and we cant say things as "best game ever".
But MGS4 is definitely up there.Best action game of the generation ,best stealth game of the generation, better production values of the generation ,greatly improved depth and playability over its already great predecesors. It definitely is the best showcase AAAA title so far this generation.
In my list it would definitely be in the Top 3 games of all time, along Ocarina of time and FFVII.
| shio said: uhhh I doubt it. 1. Crysis on High settings brutalizes MGS4 on graphics. And Crysis has a cinematic feel throughout almost the entire gameplay, while according to everyone MGS4 can only be cinematic on cutscenes.... 2. I can't debate this, since I have not touched the game yet. 3. Abuse of cutscenes = BAD! Kojima needs to get a grip on things, or he should just make movies. 4. FF6's story is not even in the top 20 best videogame stories of alltime, though I do agree it has probably the best story of a jrpg. 5. uhhh, MGS4 is not even a shooter. hyperbole much? |
1. No, it doesn't i own both. and if im not mistaken crysis is getting ported to ps3 anyway(so we'll have both on our system:)
2. if you havent touched the game.....
3. The cutscenes are amazing, plus they can be paused or skipped at anytime and the game would still kick ass
4. someone compile a list of 20 games with better storylines than FF6, i dare you
5. yes it is, sorta, depending on how you play
Absolutely the best game I have played yet. I don't consider myself a Sony fanboy, but if you were to call me a MGS fanboy I wouldn't be able to argue with you. I even have Solid Snake tattooed on my leg. That being said, 4 does an amazing job of completing what has amounted to a truly epic story. It has completely rounded out the MGS series, as well as including storylines from the original Metal Gear games. The cutscenes are long and many but I cannot imagine any other way of giving us that much information, and I loved them. As greenmedic88 said about the controls, I too think they are now refined to perfect, though I enjoyed each installment that came out at least 20 times over each.
I took a leisurely 16 hr playthrough the first time around, enjoying all of it, except for the little trick they play on you in the ending(I cried... no shit!) When I was finally done I sat back and let it all sink, before deciding what to do. My options were to immediately replay it or go through the entire series. So that's what I'm doing now, just finished MGS1 and now I'm on 2, then on to 3 and once again I'll play through 4. After that's done, I have to get all the weapons & emblems, though I'm not to sure about the Big Boss one, that's going to be hard.
The ONLY problem I have with the game, is that this time around it might actually be the Kojima's last.

EDIT: @ Ben, yes the Rex vs. Ray moment was friggin awesome!!! I'm gonna have to remember to keep that save next time around so I can go straight to that fight, woohoo!

The only ones could think of is Planescape: Torment and the MGS series. I never actually played Planescape though.

Some things are opinion, and some are fact. The graphic quality of Crysis is far superior to SMG. The textures are better, the depth of field are better, the polly count is higher, lighting and physics are more accurate. These things are factual, and can not be disputed. What game you happen to like the looks of better however, is up to you. If you like the artistic direction of SMG better, that's great. But please don't confuse that with graphical capability. |
lol the only person to disagree got the acronym wrong wrong twice, not that i mean to point out mistake but anyone who's seen the graphics and types as well as he seems to be able should be able to get Metal Gear Solid right
