Forums - Sony - MGS4: The best game I've ever played.

1. It's easily the best looking game I've seen. And yes I've seen Crysis on high. I own Crysis. And it's not just about frames per second or polygons pumped. I'm talking about presentation. "Impossible!". See for yourself.

If I had to say what my favorite game of all time is, it would be MGS4. However, it in now way compares to Crysis visually. I am playing through that right now (I just got into the ship in the mine), and nothing I have ever seen looks as good as Crysis. In fact, nothing comes close (I am playing everything on high @ 1200x800 4xAA).

MGS4 looks better then any game I have ever seen on a console however (with uncharted coming in a close second).

Key Point. Opinion...

It's my favorite game as well.

Also, artistically I prefer the graphics of Mario Galaxy to Crysis... and i have a PC that can run Crysis on High at 30fps+

I agree that it is a good game, but my favorite game is still Age of empires 2. But MGS4 comes pretty close.

I still like MGS3 better. From the part where Snake gets captured, to the very last credit, the game is amazing.

MGS4 was a worthy sequel, but for me, it didn't take the crown (possibly because someone sent me spoilers, and the trailers for the game showed waaay too much story.).

Glad you enjoyed it, though.

I like Metal Gear Solid 3 better. This was so close but i still like the 3rd better

I'm giving MGS3 Subsistence a second play though post MGS4, and it definitely deserved better critical and commercial acclaim than MGS2 (still prefer MGS4 overall). The only reason I didn't like the game when Snake Eater was released was due to the fixed camera angles, which were a game breaker for me. Subsistence changed the game completely for the better.

From a series standpoint, MGS3 definitely stands out as the most unique of the entire Metal Gear series.

Interesting take by pushing the retro 60's theme; the game actually felt quite a bit like a classic James Bond film, only with the "blunt instrument" physically imposing Daniel Craig interpretation.

I will beat it soon and I will post something of a mini-review for it. I don't think I need to tell anyone how awesome I think the game is so far

Some things are opinion, and some are fact. The graphic quality of Crysis is far superior to SMG. The textures are better, the depth of field are better, the polly count is higher, lighting and physics are more accurate.

These things are factual, and can not be disputed. What game you happen to like the looks of better however, is up to you. If you like the artistic direction of SMG better, that's great. But please don't confuse that with graphical capability.

My friend bought a PS3 this week, and a bunch of us played through MGS4 from Thursday night to early Saturday...it was excellent.

I haven't even played most of MGS2 or Portable Ops, but I knew almost all the story, and MGS4 clearly spelled things out anyway (a little too much sometimes).

The game overall was amazing, and there were some AWESOME scenes.

I didn't really care for the fights against the beasts...other than the Octopus which was a pretty cool, scary fight...the raging raven or whatever her name was, she was just annoying, and crying wolf was pretty easy...we just got under a truck and waited for her to pop out and that was it. But those were okay...it was just the stupid cutscenes and strung-out explanations from Drebin after the fights that made it lame.

But Raiden's fight scenes and even fighting Vamp was ok, the bastard. REX vs RAY was pretty sweet...it even had a zombie game moment when the PMCs were being controlled to take over Drebin's truck.

Overall, it was pretty sweet.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
