So other people dictate your opinion, gotcha.

No, because in both points I'm mentioning myself....

But I do value opinions of someone who has enough smarts and knowledge to back up their arguments.

My point is you haven't even played the game, so you shouldn't be critiquing it

I'm going to have to second this motion.  It's one thing to say, "I don't feel that I'd enjoy this game."  But, to actually critique it without having played it means your words hold little value to these discussions.

Keep this in mind when reading what I type...

I've been gaming longer than many of you have been alive.

I'm not actually sure what I'm going to do with MGS4 once I finish it. One part of me says, "Put it aside and replay it in a few months." The other part of me is just happy to have been able to have experienced it and wants to trade it in towards the next gaming experience while the value is still high. If I replay it, it won't be on a harder level that's for sure. I'm playing on the normal difficulty now and that's plenty hard for me. I don't get a lot of satisfaction in the massochistic exercise of beating games on the hardest difficulty. That's not fun for me. Prime example...Guitar Hero 3. I've beaten almost all of the songs on expert, but few of them were fun. It felt like work. I was just forcing myself to beat them. If I play for fun, I play on hard.

I feel the same way. I think I'm going to put the game down and play part 2 and 3 then pick it back up. The only other MG game I've beaten was solid 1.

I just played it today at a friends house it was very fun! But from what played I felt it was good game that I would enjoy if I were to get a PS3 which is most likely in about a year...

Former something....

I think you guys should re-read what I wrote:

I mentioned MGS4 not having graphics as good as Crysis, which I judged from screens and clips AND PS3 not even being powerful enough to make Crysis graphics!

I criticised the abuse of cutscenes... because no matter how pretty they are, it's Idiotic! If you can't shorten the story, then you can just integrate the story into the gameplay (which is what Kojima should've done). Not taking advantage of Videogaming's strong points is a Big NO.

The OP compared the story of FF6 with MGS4's. I merely said that FF6's is nowhere near the top of videogame Stories.

If MGS4 is a shooter then.... whatever.

I've actually beaten all of the earlier entries, but the problem is that I did that right when they came out.  MGS3 is still relatively fresh in my mind, but not MGS2.  Forget about the original.  I don't remember a damn thing.  I'm actually finding myself needing to consult the internet when a name or a place is mentioned during the story that I don't remember the significance.

The problem with making statements about graphics is that it's not all pure polygon counts.  It's about the art direction and cinematography as well.  Games like Metroid Prime 3 are proof of that (or so I've read).  I've never played Crysis.  I think my computer would implode, but if MP3 can be argued by some (such as IGN) to stand up to anything on the PS3 and 360 simply due to its art, then I'm sure an argument could be made for MGS4 vs. Crysis.

People didn't have a problem with cutscenes when MGS1 came out 10 years ago but now people think they are overused

I've beaten through a lot of great games in the past 22 years including all the games on my games list.

Today I beat MGS4. It has taken the Crown from The Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past as the best game of all time IMO.

Of course many will just assume I'm full of it because I'm a "PS3 fanboy" that's fine. You don't need to take my word for it. But here are my reasons:

1. It's easily the best looking game I've seen. And yes I've seen Crysis on high. I own Crysis. And it's not just about frames per second or polygons pumped. I'm talking about presentation. "Impossible!". See for yourself.

2. The audio is the best thing I've heard outside of a movie theater.

3. Phatter Cutscenes then FF7. Yes that's right and yes FF7 had some Phat cutscenes.

4. A story that rivals FF6. In this age of gaming just to mention that a game might have a story which you could compare to FF6 is amazing.

5. It's the best shooter since RE4.

6. A whole bunch of other stuff that I'm not going to tell you because I have enough class not to spoil it.

It has its flaws. The ending is a bit too long and the controls can be difficult to pick up. Still, it is the best game of this generation and all time IMO.

Find a way to play this game.

I totally agree with you on that one, this game is epic, have you played it using the Dualshock 3, makes the cutscenes feel interactive in some way, like your there while bombs are smashing at the floor. It made a better experience, and the best movie i have seen this summer. It's just EPIC, along with the past MGS games, just awe-inspiring. Though i hate the controls for MGO especially, its feels like i'm doing a GTA san andreas cheat code just to stab someone.

It's not the best, but it's certainly in my top 10 or so.

Act 4 is one of the greatest gaming experiences I've ever had. So awesome.
