Also if it is a port, I hope they at least add FMVs.

This game will be brand new for Europe so it doesn't matter
I was so close to purchasing a DS for this, but I think I'll pass now. I already own the game for SNES and PS1.
Never played the game, so I'm very excited :)

The version for the PS1 added very little outside of cutscenes which add nothing in terms of gameplay. Everyone seemed to rave about that version. The game is a masterpiece, and I'd rather have a perfectly translated port than some version that tries to reinvent the wheel and could potentially diminish the game's greatness. |
I complain about the PS1 version. It made the music worse and the loading times are ridiculious.
Oh to think at one point this was going to be FF7. Think how it would of been to get a lot more actual Chrono Trigger games.
Eh they probably would of cocked it up like they did with Chrono Cross. I wish I could figure out why just magically square started sucking.

They don't suck, they're just not as good as they used to be. This is for two reasons:
1)Sakaguchi left Square after FF:The Spirits Within bombed
2)Some of the other designers left Square and is now either in Monolift Soft, Mistwalker, or freelance

I guess it's good that more people get to experience Chrono Trigger. I'm just really getting sick of Square's endless process of ports, remakes, and spinoffs of their classic games. I mean, first they ported/remade Final Fantasy 1-6 and Chrono Trigger for the Playstation. Then they ported/remade Final Fantasy 1-6 for the Gameboy Advance. Now they are porting/remaking Final Fantasy 1-6 and Chrono Trigger again for the DS. How many times can you redo the same game? No, I'm not going to buy it again!
At least Crisis Core was something different, even if it too was a spinoff. I guess all these games are designed to pay the bills during the endless development of Final Fantasy 13/Versus...

Ah maybe.
I don't know. Back then all i cared about videogames were they were fun and that Square always meant fun.
Then suddenly they didn't... and I knew it wasn't the PS1's fault cause the PS1 had a crapload of great games.
Then they went and shut down and ruined Quest... then Enix merged with them for some reason...

2d would be fine with me but the screens thus far show a direct port. So for me this has gone from a game I HAVE to have to a game I might rent. If you've never played it then you should definately get it. I'm pretty sure a lot of the RPG fans on this site didn't know what an RPG was when this game came out so yeah it's gonna sell too. |
It's got new content, and the screens thus far are 2 screens, showing more vibrant colors than the original game. What part of "new content" don't you understand.
Frankly, I think most criticism of this game is from sony fanboys trying to passive-agressively marginalize this game so that one day soon it'll be ok for them to try and pretend the PSP is as good as the DS again.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.

NO NO, NO NO NO.
