Damn that could take some getting used to. Very interesting controls though.

...

This could be so awful...but it could be so amazing as well...this is one of those games that any sane person would read the review to see how the controls worked before buying.

I thought they were so frackin cool

Thats the thing...if they work well, they are definitely awesome. I'd say I'm cautiously optimistic for this since controls are pretty much the single most important thing in any skateboarding game.  It just wouldn't make any sense for them to neglect the controls.

Skate on PS3/X360 was also a game where you love the controls or not.  The most loved it but took me a damned long time to get used to it;.

Would be really awesome! If they manage to make it all function correctly.
Also, I'm sick and tired of all these games that look like utter BULLCRAP!! What. The. F*ck. What's the matter with these people, they could pull off nice graphics 5 years ago on GameCube, nowadays they're not even TRYING anymore, and when they create a so-called "great-looking" game, they're all like "Woo, look at our game's amazingly polished AAA graphics!!", when in truth they're actually worse than what most GC games did half a decade ago on far inferior hardware. Like we have to take that crap and praise it just because it looks better than horrible shovelware that looks like it was dragged up from the N64/Dreamcast era? Seriously! What! The! F*CK!

Even there you have to be careful. A lot of people slagged the controls for SSX Blur, but those who took the time to master them found them very rewarding.
